GUIDE: Getting to #n00bfest on IRC

 GUIDE: Getting to #n00bfest on IRCFirst: Download an IRC client. The one most people use is the one from www.mirc.com
Second: Go to tools --> options. Click "connect" among the many options. Type in your handle and an alternate incase your main is taken. (Note: Spaces, periods, and a few other characters will not be allowed in nicknames.) Third: Click "servers". Find "Gamesurge" under the IRC Network dropdown box. And I use "Random US Server" under the IRC Server dropdown box. After you're connected to irc.gamesurge.net, REGISTER! To register, go to http://gamesurge.net/createaccount/ Once you have registered, you'll get an email with another command line, simply paste that into IRC, and then type this command line: /msg authserv@services.gamesurge.net auth account password If it says "I recognize you" that means you have just authenticated, congratulations. You will need to put this in every time you connect. Just type /join #n00bfest into IRC and you are done!.. Unless: Perform On Connect Hopefully all of you want to use IRC to join the channel more than once, so this should make things easier. "Perform" will perform commands when you connect. Go into Options and click "options" and you should find "connect", click it. Paste in your auth command. (/msg authserv@services.gamesurge.net auth account password) and /join #n00bfest on the line under. That's it! You're done. I'm the channel "owner", but it is up to Corpse who gets ops, voice, etc. Post any suggestions or any other shit to do with IRC in this topic. It's the oldest method of internet communications. A very powerful tool for meeting, chatting, and exchanging files. Extremely small and uses very little resources. Some people have it start-up when their computer boots and they just stay in "away" mode until they want to talk to someone.

You have to download and install mIRC. I use it on XP all the time. Check on mIRC.com for additional download sources. Your installation file must have been corrupted.
