Your "intel celerom D" is probably the root of the problem.

Intel celerom (sic) processors are pretty weak.

Also try going to start>run>msconfig

Remove everything from the start up that you don't need. This will help your computer start alot faster, and run alot faster. Another thing that will help your computer run faster is using a blank wall paper. A wallpaper takes up active memory. :\ so try using a blue green or something like that.

Whatever takes slow too slow to load or you dont use too often. I just did that on my computer at home here and took off a bunch of things i either dont use, or use rare enough that i can just start them up if i need them. Just restarted my computer and it starts up a lot quicker.

I disagree, my P4 prescott 2.4Ghz poons, but anyways...

run that command ocelot told you, and go to the services tab, and disable all unneeded services. For example i have almost all mine disbaled but the following...

DHCP Client
Windows Audio (for your sound)
Windows performance logs and Alerts (To access device manager)
Windows Installer (To install new software/programs or w/e)
Plug and Play (monitors and stuff)
Universal Plug and Play (monitors and stuff)
Automatic Updates (Windows update service)
IMAPI cd-burning COM service (To burn CD's)
Print spooler (So your printer works)

These are all the bare necessities for your computer to run everything you will need for gaming and basic web browsing or music DL'ing basically anything a PC n00b will need.

I have noticed that tweaks dont tweak an AMD based system as well, but it works wonders for me.

Also, if you dont want to do that tweak, just disable the "Indexing Service" and just that right there makes a difference.

BUT for a killer list of tweaks for performance go to www.tweakxp.com

AND for useful programs for your PC such as, drive cleaning/maintenance, Tweaked versions of video drivers, and stuff like that...visit www.majorgeeks.com

*EDIT* to install new versions of DirectX, you will have to re-enable all of the services, I do not know which service contrls that, but its only 50% windows installer service. If anyone knows the service that controls DX installation, plz tell me.
