Post tv as monitor help
Ok I got a few questions.
1) How much would like a 20--30 inchs Lcd(hdtv works as well. as long as I could money it on my wall) cost that has all that stuff that I could play games on? (Like genocides except smaller)
2) Would I still be able to watch tv on it?
3) Would the fps max for the lcd tv be like 60 or something low.
Ok thats all

1) $500-1500, depending on size/quality.
2) Yes
3) Ask DocWonder/Super/Genocide/GreenVan

As far as your frames per second goes... it depends on three variables 1) response time 2) refresh rate 3) computer/graphics card

Assuming your rig is up to the task of spitting out enough fps, then we must look at response time and refresh rates. Response time is lcd related... its the time for a lcd pixel to change from black to white or grey to grey. The manufacturer's have a habit of quoting their best number... when in fact response time is better represented by a graph. Idealy, you want a monitor that has a average spread of 12ms response time or less.

Another important factor is the refresh rate. You'll hear many people say incorrectly that refresh rate doesn't matter on lcds. However, the more correct statement would be there is NO FLICKER on LCDs as seen on CRTs with low refresh rates. Lower refresh rates (such as 60hz) on LCDs is not noticeable as flicker simply due to the way the techonlogy works... it never goes blank/white like a crt does between frames. However problems arise with fast paced first person games... if the refresh rate is capped at 60 hz... that would be a cap of 60 fps (regardless of what your max_fps is set at or what your graphics says its pushing out) The bottleneck would be your monitor.

As a side note however, some lcd monitors go up 75 hz... many people find this just fine and appropriate for gaming. In the end its personal preference. If you want to experience how it would look on a crt monitor do the following: Make sure your refresh rate is 85hz or higher. Make sure your graphics card can put out more than enough frames per second. Now go into cs and input the command to cap your fps... i think its fps_max 75. This will give you a quick look at how the lcd will look if it can refresh at 75hz and have a 12ms or lower response time.
