Back of the mobo O_O no the processor. :D well ..side of the mobo..BLAH.
IT depends, if you have intergrated audio it's built into your mobo, if it is a purchased soundcard then you seat it in a slot.

arrgghhh! Just put it in the bloody hole! And if you can't find it, keep putting it in holes until you find the right one. Sooner later you'll find it... oh, and if i were you I'd start with the holes closes to your speaker output.
goodluck

mmmkay, USB mics blow ass

This is what a sound jack looks like, it may not resemble yours exactly but the colors are strait forward

Image

here are a few more pics, just plug the PINK/RED wire into the Pink slot !

Image
The Green slot is the sound OUTPUT wich is represented with a speaker then a wierd "sound like "arrow pointing AWAY from the hole, the sound INPUT is represented by the same small speaker icon with a wierd "sound like" arrow pointing TOWARDS the hole.

Image
^^Headphone jack on the left, and microphone jack on the right^^

If you need any more help msg me on aim @ lilmearsy

from what i understand usb doesnt use the full potential of you soundcard and gives you shittier quality with more strain on your mobo...

Yeah that does make sense. It is not directly pulling off the card, so it would get less power and preformance from the card. Usb would be pulling mainly off the mobo's powers supply..wWHHEEE
