Post i need a solution to my lag
I'm having lag issues. Lag issues that are clearly fucken up my chi and my ability to pwn. I know for a fact that it's not my connection. My ping is low and my connection is reliable. Its client side.

I'm not too familiar with my pc (I assembled it when I was drunk and lost all the manuals) but I know it's not a hardware problem.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Steam. Didn't work.

Let me start by describing the lag. I'll spawn with pistol. Buy weapons/armor. No lag yet. Run up to hot area. See action and start lagging.
Framerate drops, mouse and keyboard response is a second or two off. I'll get a guy on the crosshair and click. I'll unload half a clip by just clicking once. Strafe has similar "stickyness". I'll continue to strafe even though I'm not holding A or D down.

If I'm lucky I'll live and the lag goes away when action subsides.

I'm guessing there is an all magical cmd line for console that will fix all my issues.

Maybe its a video setting.

I dunno.

Help me.

Try these commands in console. i belive you have to type themin one by one
rate 25000, cl_updaterate 101, cl_cmdrate 101, cl_rate 9999, ex_interp .01

If that doesnt work then just act like your going to uninstall steam but repair it and do the same thing with cz if you can.

If you have any special skins, can them. Try setting your screen-resolution to the highest size and turning all the graphics settings on the lowest possible.

cl_cmdrate should be set to 100 even. And noobfest forces ex_interp to 0.1.

Here's an excellent post on setting rates, etc... http://forums.czleague.org/viewtopic.php?t=3294

Well, before we can diagnose your problem, we need some details...

1)System Specs (processor, memory, video card, etc...)
2)Operating System
3)Type of broadband? ISP? Rated Speed? Wireless?
4)Please run netgraph 3 and evaluate the quality of your connection... specifically choke and loss... for exampe, do times of lag coincide with the presence of choke and loss? Also note your frames per second, does it dip during times of lag?
5)How long has this happened for? Was it always present?

Assuming it is a video setting...
1)D3D or Opengl? CS and CZ are native to opengl... not D3d.
2)Resolution?
3)Filtering, truform, etc..? What extra settings do you have turned on?

Answer these questions and I'll be able to help you more specifcally... throwing in some commands usually doesnt fix it.

Unless you make your cfg file read-only like I do.

Then you have to manually take off the read-only flag, edit the file, and make it read only again.

just did all those console commands and a few more from the link and i've noticed much greater accuracy in my weapons. i had the ex_interp set to 0.01 originally , it made all the models jumpy and i was pulling off some seriously BS shots that shouldn't have hit. set it to 0.1 and its running great.

oh yeah i forgot to address that.. Sometimes if your ex_interp is to low itll make play models glitch upclose. Ex_interp rate depends on update rate and all. you can also try ex_interp 0 which will do it by update rate. so itd be like a auto way. yeah i guess

cl_updaterate and cl_cmdrate are commands that help increase or decrease the amount of communication you have with the server. However, be aware that depending on which server you go into and its settings, you need to keep an eye on your choke and loss. I've found that most servers are fine with both setting at 101... in fact, the old n00bfest server was right dandy with 101 for both commands. But I've found that the new n00bfest server doesn't particularly like the cl_updaterate set so high... otherwise you get massive choke.

If you get choke or loss, it means all your packets are not getting to where they're suppose to be going... that translates into nonregisetering bullets... bad for cs/cz.

I've found that cl_cmdrate is good set at 101, but the cl_updaterate may need to be dialed down to 30 in order to prevent choke.

If you're getting loss, dial down the cl_cmdrate.

BUT FUNGS ISSUE is not with these commands... these commands have nothing to do with lag.
