you're better off using that $ and getting a 21 inch CRT flat glass monitor LCD's unless you get a really nice one (400 + bux) will not look as good as the CRT's

I just got a samsung 730b,its 17 inch but has the same viewing area as a 19 inch crt.So far i have saw no gosting or dead pixels and it just looks amazing. It really looks better than my old professional series viewsonic. I got it for 400 bucks from circuit city but it did have a 100 buck rebate, although i havent got the rebate check yet  Geno is right though if you dont plan to buy a good one you will regret it.The response time needs to be no higher than 8ms and you also need to take into account that it will probably have a native resolution of 1280X1024.What this means is for the monitor to look its best you will have to run everything at that resolution,or the iq will suffer greatly.Ive always gamed at that resolution so it works out great for me. :D

I couldn't have said it better myself.

Actually, I could've... by using proper grammar/spelling, but Genocide did a good enough job at getting to the point.

CRT for the win. I picked up a 24" Black Tru Flat Samsung from a F*CKING Sams Club here in Pensacola for $235. Monitor is crisp, clear, and has F*CKING awesome picture quality.

its sexy because its thin? the picture quality is what counts.... So many people think just because an LCD cost more its better than a CRT... WRONG unless its HD and has a high refresh rate you're picture will suck ass

Grammar lesson from Gman:

Your is posessive. Use it in a sentence like this - Your face makes you look gay.

You're means "you are." Use it in a sentence like this - You're gay because you like man-penis in your butt.

The lcd has came a long way in the last couple years, the iq difference between them and crt's are negligible. Also refresh rates dont apply to lcd's. :D "Since LCD monitors do not employ phosphors, refresh rate is not a concern. Basically, the transistors in the LCD remain open or closed as needed until the image changes. This can be a point of confusion for some consumers, however, since most graphics cards still "ask for" a refresh rate setting. This is due to the analog nature of existing graphic cards and their support for CRT displays. While refresh rates do not apply to LCD monitors, most LCDs are set up to accept any settings from 60Hz and above". Its amazing what you can learn if you will just do the research.Crt monitor's are all but dead the big companies only offer a few models.
