As many of you have been noticing i have been lagging most of the time during scrims. This usually happens after the scrim has been lo3'ed or lived. At first i though it was just lag spike s that happened randomly but it has now become a problem. I did a virus scan and malware scan as well as defragged my harddrive....no avail. I then resorted to reformatting my computer completely thinking it may be fixed (90% of problems are fixed by reformatting with the exception of hardware). I then reinstalled all my drivers and counter strike. I have not installed anything else but my avg antivirus, vent, smart defrag, and security 360, i also installed firefox. I then wanted to scrim tonight. but to my dismay the problem seems to persist. i looked at my netgraph and everything seems stable. but then randomly my ping will go up to about 250 for 20 seconds(i usually have it about 70) this only really happens during scarms though. is there a possible way to fix this? if so how?

BTW I AM RUNNING A LAPTOP WITH THESE SPECS

CPU: AMD ATHLON 64x2 Ql-65(2.1GHZ)
RAM: 4GB DDR2 RAM (667MHZ)
Video card: ATI RADEON HD 3200 INTEGRATED GRAPHICS(256mb dedicated)
OS: WINDOWS 7 64 bit
Router: LINKSYS wrt160N wireless router (works fine with all my other games)

Try hard-wired to rule out wireless. Also, use the right forum.

yah sounds to me it's ur wireless messn up sometimes...but also are you gettn lag spikes in vent to at same time?

no i can hear vent ehile i am lagging but its useless if i cant aim cuz im lagging everywhere and getting ~4-5 fps lol. But the wireless works fine in every other servers and until the match is lived

if ur having no problems till it's live then it's prob server settings check ur rates and everything to double veryify and check with the setting in ur console if you have any skins (weapon one) it could be that also when they set the server.

Does anyone else use your wireless connection? If you got someone else using it that could mess things up.

I actually solved it it was not the wireless as i expected.
The problem stems from ventrilo and windows 7 not working well with one another.

When i was getting vent lag i was using direct sound but the updated sound driver didnt support ventrilo well and would lag my soundcard
Im using a laptop so that means i have on board sound. It would freeze my game up at points trying to catch the sound up.

I went back to an earlier driver and now both vent and the game work with the card fine not to mention it now will detect my headset and everything else properly so i get louder sound and better quality.
