Post Mossyyy With Tv's.
Okay.

So my birthday is in a month or so.

And i wanted a nice TV for my birthday..

Family said anything over 400 dollers i have to chip in.

Now i will be using this mainly for Standard TV & 360.

Because of the Xbox 360 i want the TV to be either 720p Or higher.

Now i have a few TV's Lined up in my price range and what not.

1. Is the difference between 720 and 1080 worth the Extra Hundreds? <- Main Question

I have noticed some TV's the same size and make as 720's are 2-300 dollers more @ 1080 is it worth it?

2. Do you have any suggestions to brands or models?

I am aiming around the 32" size give or take.

My front runner. http://www.vizio.com/vo320e.html#support

The 500 dollar price is full of shit.

The TV is jsut going to be in my room so i can watch TV @ nights or during the day and play Xbox.

I need a large size due to the size of my room from where i will be sitting/ laying....

Thanks alot.

Mossy.

You can see a difference in 1080 and 720, but on a smaller TV it isn't as much of a difference(smaller aka under 40.) IMO, I'd rather get a 42" 720 than a 3X" 1080 for the same price, but it also kinda matters on how far away the TV is going to be from you. Easiest thing to do is go to Wal-Mart/Best Buy/Sears and go to the TV section and find two identical TVs, one with 1080 and one with 720 and compare them. On the size you are looking for, the difference might be so minimal that it wouldn't be any sweat off of your back going with the 720.

Don't be afraid to shop around for a better deal too. Sometimes in-store ads and sales can beat internet deals and you will be able to bring it home that day and have the luxury that if you have dead pixels or if the TV goes bad to take it back that day and get a new one that day instead of RMAing it on the internet.

I got my AOC 32 inch 1080p TV for $350 on Tiger Direct. I'm currently using it as my computer screen and it looks incredible. For the price, you just can't beat it.

How far away from the TV will you be sitting? If more than a few feet, you won't notice the diff between 720 and 1080. They'll both look great over HDMI with a HD source.

I would stick with 720p to get value out of that price range.

1080P yes for now might get away without it but you will want it when it's more of a standard specially if your watching blurays and shit... but easily get a 36" or 42" at that price i have a 52" a 48" and a 42" all 1080p 2 26"s that are 720p mostly because they are so small i don't give a shit.. just reg cable to them anyways..

It all depends what you will be hooking up to it, if you don't plan on a blue ray player then you won't need 1080p. HD t.v. is only in 720 with a few HD channels with the odd program in 1080. Also with the 360, unless the game supports 1080 it will only be in 720. So the question is Mossy are you going to use anything putting out a 1080 signal? If you are not, you are not losing anything by going 720.

yeah esp. on your budget stick with 32" and 720. you'll be rockin' a new 50" after you move out & get a real jurrrrrb. 32" is perfek for bedroom/dorm room, and this thing'll last you a few years.
