 Re: Open weekend beta
What a useless Beta! Hey eveyone please come play our free beta weekend, so we can shut down the servers so you can't play on the limited free time weekend. I know it's a beta, but the point of the free beta was not for testing but to PR the game to the communities to increase launch sales. So far I would say Disaster! The loyal fan base will be there, but it's the fringe players and new players to Diablo they want to get, but you can't with Error 37 messages at load in, lol. If I was new to the Diablo world I would not be buying the game at launch after spending hours trying to log into there servers of the first of a two day free weekend to server problems. Blizzard is usually good about this stuff, I wonder who dropped the ball on this one, lol.

 Re: Open weekend beta
Reynolds, the point of the free beta is to stress test the systems. Pretty much from the get-go they were fucked so they had to take it offline to un-fuck themselves.

 Re: Open weekend beta
It says right on the login screen. They capped the number of players so they didnt blow shit up. I played WoW for years and never had any problems with login or anything like that, i doubt D3 will be much of a change. Keep in mind these are only the beta servers, things should be more stable come launch. The beta is just a teaser anyways with just enough content to get hooked and finish and be like wtf I WANT MORE!

That's what they tell you, but I worked in the industry for years. This is a PR campaign more then a stress test and so far they have failed miserably. The capped test could have been done with the closed beta but for them to do it during a free weekend beta show off is just bad PR.

 Re: Open weekend beta
How can you stress test something that has such a low player cap as a closed beta? You open up the floodgates when you let the public in. It really is a possibility but seeing as how you've 'been there before', I'll give y'all the benefit of the doubt. Either way, played it for an hour last night, shit is boss as hell.
