Do you believe something will happen, or do you believe it'll be another day on the calender?

I personally think something will happen.

i'm not going to entirely dismiss it, but i agree with a post apok had a month or so ago stating that it is nearly impossible that the mayans had knowledge of an apocolypse and the only thing that survived the ages referring to it was their calendar. think about all the stories and history that has made it's way to our generation (jesus, ancient rome, chinese dynasties, etc.). how could the mayans not have recorded their apocolyptic beliefs or only record it by ending their calendar. in my opinion they just arbitrarily ended it and 12/21/2012 is the date.

You also have to realize, what's catastrophic to a smaller agricultural society may not be as catastrophic to us.

For all we know that may have been the year that crops did horribly for them. While that would set us back quite a bit, it wouldn't end the world...

I don't think anything will happen because of the date. Coincidences may happen, or someone make take advantage of the hype to do something, but I don't believe in horoscopes and this is just one on a global scale.

It's absolutely fascinating that the Mayan Calendar is more accurate than any calendar used today.

The importance of this day in the Mayan Calendar only marks the end of one cycle and the beginning of another.

Some people believe that this day marks an significant galactic alignment but apparently scientists have shown that this alignment has already occurred back in 1998 or 1999.

Some people speculate that since our solar system is now moving into the northern half of the galaxy that we wil be exposed to more radiation and thus could see a lot of enviornmental changes in the years to come.

There are a lot of theories flying around but I doubt anything will happen on this exact date. However, apparently a lot of ancient prophecies foresee this era in time as being very significant in human history. I hope I'm around to see something cool like a giant EMP hitting the earth and my debt magically disappearing.

I got really F*CKING baked a few days ago and wrote a huge email to my parents. Here is the part about 2012:

Quote:
Luke 22:10 and Mark 14:13 state: "And a man will meet you, carrying an Earthen pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he goes in."

It was believed by ancient people that "the apocalypse" would occur sometime within the year 2012. However, this is not an apocalypse in a traditional sense. Utterly horrible times will befall us between now and then, however, the majority of us will awaken and move forward to stop this and advance our race.

The zodiac symbol of Aquarius has always been represented as a man carrying a pitcher of water towards a castle - a place of kings. In 2012, Earth moves in to the "Age of Aquarius" on the zodiac calendar.

The Gospel of Thomas was conveniently omitted from the director's cut. Here are some paraphrased nuggets of Jesus you missed:

"To enter my father's kingdom, a man must have an advocate. Though, no man can act as an advocate for all. So where then can each man find an advocate? A man must be his own advocate. To truly know one's self and truly know where one comes from is the key to salvation that will unlock the door to my father's palace."

Scientists are now discovering that old discredited theories - the ones stating that all life is surrounded by an energy field that interacts with everything else around it - were falsified prematurely. We simply did not have the ability to test such things. Those scientists who found ways to test these theories were actually killed because of the ramifications of such research.

EDIT: Also, I probably got that second Jesus quote wrong and Gman will correct me and laugh at me.
