This country belongs to the almighty dollar.

Democracy? This country is a PLUTOCRACY. Rule of the rich.

McCain and Obama alike have money-hungry lobbyists jockeying for position, the media is owned by wealthy business interests, the Judges are all paid for, the land is owned for the business interests to smear their logo feces all over... the tax breaks are all going to the rich (THANKS, GOP...)

Politicians spend BILLIONS to get their places in the House and Senate AND of course, the PRESIDENCY. 2.2 BILLION DOLLARS in the last midterm election spent by politicians.

So tell me this... why vote? And don't give me your stupid "patriotic duty" bullshit, I'll leave this with a quote from a well-written article I read:

"Being patriotic in America means being devoted to the Constitution, if not the natural rights philosophy that motivated much of it. Since neither of the major political parties has any interest whatsoever in enforcing the constitutional limitations on the state, they are all traitors to the Constitution (with one lone exception, Congressman Ron Paul)."

I don't like you.

But I'll clear my schedule for November 4th and rub two out.

TWO.

Awesome, it's a Tuesday. My day off. I'll rub three out.

I definitely don't think you should feel obliged to vote if you dislike both of the "viable" parties equally.

However, I think there are some differences between the parties for the majority of Americans. Voting isn't assuming that life will become ideal among the next administration, but hoping to influence certain aspects of the future.

For example, I kind of think that economic policies won't really differ that much, in reality, whether McCain or Obama are elected. The decision is more in the hand of congress and in the pocketbooks of CEOs/etc.

So if I'm an anti-American guilt theorist who thinks it would be nice for the United States to at least pretend to respect the rest of the world, I might vote for Obama just in hopes of that happening...if I think preventing infanticide is the biggest issue on the table, I'd probably vote McCain, etc.

You don't have to vote if you don't want to do it.

Just don't bitch about the way things are.

i love how people complain about the direction of the country and our elected officials, yet they do NOTHING to help change it. yes, maybe the dem and rep candidates suck (which they usually do), but you can still vote for one of the other candidates (independent?), or write someone in, and you can at least vote on the propositions and bills on the ballot if you don't want to vote for president. take an active role, don't just sit on the sidelines and complain, sissy.

who cares who gets elected its not like its a life or death situation. How many Americans have died because of terrorism during Bush's 2 terms as President? About 3,000 from 9/11 which arguably would have happened no matter who was President. And just over 4,000 in Iraq. And just under 600 in Afghanistan. So roughly 7600 Americans have died within the 8 years of the Bush 'Reign of Terror'. Oh, I mean 'Reign against Terror," my bad.

Lets round it up to a nice round 8000 deaths afterall Bush still has a couple more months left in office. So that equates to less than 1000 deaths per year. Which equates to less than 100 deaths a month. Which means during Bush's 2 terms there were less than 3 deaths a day due to terrorism and that was rounding up remember?

Now lets look at some other causes of death in the United States

http://www.drugwarfacts.org/causes.htm

435,000 tobacco related deaths (2000)

365,000 poor diet and inactivity (2000)

85,000 alcohol related deaths (2000)

20,308 homicides (2000)

20,000 sexual behaviors (not a joke) (2000)

0 marijuana (2000)

Oh that little 2000 in parenthesis is the year. These are statistics are from one year in the USA. Add them up and you get over 900,000 deaths in the year 2000 most of which could have been avoided if Americans were anywhere as near as intelligent as they THINK they are. So lets multiply 900000 by 8 and we get 7.2 million deaths. So during the 8 years of Bush's Presidency approximately 4600 troops have died and a total of 8000 Americans have died because of terrorism. So whats the ratio between 8000 and 7.2 million? 8:7,200 = 1:900. What does this mean? For every American death related to terrorism 900 Americans died due to reasons which could have been prevented.

WAKE THE GOD DAMN MOTHER F*CKING UP YOU F*CKING IDIOTS!!!!!!!! GET YOUR F*CKING PRIORITIES RIGHT AND CONCENTRATE ON THE SHIT THAT MATTERS!!!

How the F*CK are you going to get upset because our President waged war on terror? Because 4600 troops died? Wake up and look at the real picture.

Who are the real killers in America? If your going to be pissed at Bush be pissed at him because he's done absolutely nothing to stop the senseless deaths of 7.2 million Americans.

God damn hippies piss me off.

So the Iraq war has cost how much? I forget. It doesn't matter it goes up everyday. How much do you think these senseless deaths costs the American people in terms of healthcare because most of those deaths I listed are pretty slow and cause insurance rates to skyrocket.

The estimated healthcare cost for the 30,000 wounded troops from the Iraq war is about 1 billion dollars over the next 30-40 years. Being a mathematician and intelligent person I'll double that to 2 billion. How much do you think its going to cost Americans who keep up the same old bad habits? Your talking about millions of people needing extensive healthcare. Can we say trillions of dollars?

Think about it. Start asking the right questions. Start getting mad for the right reasons. Start holding those responsible accountable for their actions. The only way you can do this is to educate yourself as much as possible and become accountable for your own actions. Can you do that?

/endrant

Note:

I hold all members of the armed forces in the highest regard. I do not for one second think that any of them have died in vein. I honor their sacrifice and hope that I am able to make the most of the oppurtunities forwarded to me because of their bravery.

How about it doesn't matter if we do or do not vote, the presidential candidate isn't chosen using the popular vote so we basically have no say in who wins.

I plan on rubbing one or two out while I'm voting, does that count? Yellow_Flash_Colorz_PDT_02

In all seriousness, if you don't like any of the major candidates, vote for an independent one that you like. Will he (or, later on in the future, she) win? Probably not, as they never do. What will happen though is that if they get a high enough percentage, the two major parties will take a look at the issues that candidate stood for and adopt them toward the next election. Just take a look at Ross Perot. After he got about 18.9% of the popular vote in the '92 election, the candidates of the '96 election started focusing on the issues he stood for.

Vision, you border on sensationalism, but good rant nonetheless

How many commercials for stupid diet programs and weight loss supplements do you see everyday?

How about DARE and all of these "Drug Free" programs?

All that is left up to the individual, if someone is stupid enough to start drugs or eat themselves to death, that's THEIR responsibility.

So, I do believe something is being done about reducing the number of drug-related and obesity-related deaths, PEOPLE CHOOSE NOT TO LISTEN. Simple. I can't say much for the sexual related deaths, those belong in the Darwin Awards. Homicides, law enforcement has tried for years to reduce, just like auto theft and larceny and any other crime that starts to become a problem. It's not the government's responsibility to shove the right foods down people's throats, and they've been trying for years as well to get guns and drugs off the streets, but again, it's personal choice.

Besides, when did this turn into a terrorism debate? I said nothing about F*CKING war or death or anything of the sort. So really, your rant was kind of out of place for this topic... I honestly couldn't care less about how you think my anger is misdirected because nothing I said really relates to what you wrote.

EDIT- Sensationalism and platitudes piss me off, if you haven't noticed.

Don't like sensationalism or platitudes... then you prolly don't like much of what I post... Yellow_Flash_Colorz_PDT_19

If I had to say, I would say my post are loaded with both... Yellow_Flash_Colorz_PDT_11

And I think Vision was just trying to say that many if not most people view the war in Iraq and cost in treasure the way he describes, when in reality, if you look at death in America by other means, we are hypocrites in every since of the word. I also agree somewhat with your plutocracy statement, money has corrupted our political system.

Yes it is every individuals right to not wear a helmet or eat McDonalds 3 times a day and I do not want the government dictating my personal preferences. But some oversight and guideing policy needs to be set in order to protect those preferences/choices from negativly impacting those who did not make the same choices as you might. especially if those choices are extreme right or left of nuetral center.

And another thing we can agree on is that Ron Paul stands out from the pack. Yellow_Flash_Colorz_PDT_15
