GI Bill Opponent President Bush Lauds GI Bill Opponent John McCain For The GI Bill Expansion
June 30, 2008 | Think Progress

This morning, President Bush signed a war supplemental spending bill which included a doubling of GI Bill college benefits for troops and veterans. The Bush administration had resisted Sen. Jim Webb’s (D-VA) strong bipartisan effort to pass the bill, going so far as to warn of “harm” that might come from giving expanded educational benefits to soldiers who served “only” 2 years. John McCain Doesn't Know the Price of Gas/Can't Remember the Last Time He Bought Any
June 30, 2008 | The Huffington Post

John McCain kind of stepped in it the other day, here in California, but luckily no one noticed. He was being driven from John Wayne airport to a fundraiser, and he took a quick call from Martin Wisckol of the Orange County Register. Wisckol asked him a series of softball questions so tedious McCain's driver had to crack the window so the breeze would keep him from passing out, but then this:

WISCKOL: I'd like to ask you a couple questions suggested by voters here. They're not reporter-type questions. McCAIN: Sure. It'd be a pleasure. WISCKOL: When was the last time you pumped your own gas and how much did it cost?
McCAIN: Oh, I don't remember. Now there's Secret Service protection. But I've done it for many, many years. I don't recall and frankly, I don't see how it matters. I've had hundreds and hundreds of town hall meetings, many as short a time ago as yesterday. I communicate with the people and they communicate with me very effectively.

John McCain: Changing The Definition Of “Experienced”

McCain Said Military Service Doesn't Make Someone Better Equipped To Be President
McCain Said Military Service "Absolutely" Didn't Make Someone Better Equipped To Be President. During an interview with National Journal, John McCain was asked if "military service inherently makes somebody better equipped to be commander-in-chief." McCain said, "Absolutely not. History shows that some of our greatest leaders have had little or no military experience- Abraham Lincoln, Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Harry Truman was in the artillery in World War I, which was magnificent. Ronald Reagan did most of his active duty in the studio lots in California. It might be a nice thing, but I absolutely don't believe that it's necessary. [National Journal, 2/15/03; emphasis added]

McCain: "I've Never Believed That Lack Of Military Service Disqualifies One From Occupying" The Oval Office. In an address to the American Legion in 1999, John McCain said, "I believe that military service is the most honorable endeavor an American may undertake. But I've never believed that lack of military service disqualifies one from occupying positions of political leadership or as Commander and Chief. In America, the people are sovereign, and they decide who is and is not qualified to lead us." [McCain Speech to the American Legion, 9/7/99]

McCain Defended Bush Charges That He Lacked Experience
McCain On Bush: "I Think It's Well Remembered That He Was Involved In Government For A Long Time." During a joint appearance on CNN, John McCain praised Governor Bush's experience. He said, "I think it's well remembered that he was involved in government for a long time, including with the previous White House's administration." [CNN, "Inside Politics," 8/10/00; emphasis added]

When Inaugurated, President Bush Had Been Involved In Government For 6 Years. George W. Bush was elected governor of Texas in 1994. He had been involved in government for 6 years at the time of his inauguration as President of the United States. [Associated Press, 6/3/00]
On Inauguration Day, Obama Will Have Been Involved In Government For 12 Years. Barack Obama, who entered the Illinois State Legislature in 1996 and has served in the U.S. Senate since January 2005, will have been involved in government for 12 years in January 2009. [ABC News, 2/25/08]
McCain Defended Bush Against Charges That He Lacked Experience. According to the Houston Chronicle, McCain "defended Bush against the Gore campaign's assertion that the Texas governor lacks the experience to be president. ‘There was another governor of another big state that Democrats said was not experienced enough to be president of the United States. And his name was Ronald Reagan.'" [Houston Chronicle, 10/31/00]

McCain: "The Latest Sort Of Desperation Tactic Is To Say That George Bush Is Not Experienced Enough." During a campaign appearance in Burbank, California, McCain defended Bush against criticism alleging he lacked the necessary experience to be President. "The latest sort of desperation tactic is to say that George Bush is not experienced enough to be president," he said. "I promise you I know that this man is fully prepared and fully confident and will fulfill the responsibilities of the office of President of the United States." [Scripps Howard, 10/30/00]

Why shouldn't McCain/Palin be the choice? Let me count the ways.

1) He does not know current geography. He constantly refers to nations that no longer exist.

2) He does not know the world leaders.

3) He does not know which countries are allies and which are adversaries as evidenced by his Spain remarks.

4) He adminittedly knows nothing about the economy.

5) He insisted over and over that the economy is sound, even after the collaspe of a major company.

6) Morally, he is corrupt. He abandoned his wife who was in a wheel chair and then committed adultery with his now current wife, Cindy McCain.

7) Palin is...how do you say...dumb? Her insistance that her foreign expertise derives from being able to see Russia from Alaska is idiotic at best.

8) The Republican party's sheer terror over allowing Palin to speak with reporters shows they too know that McCain picked a clunker.

9) Palin says she is a reformer. At the beginning of her nomination she was going to participate in the Troopergate investigation and now her office has directed state officials not to participate in the investigation even after receiving subpeonas. She mysteriously (along with her husband) have declined to participate too. That's exactly kind of reformer we need.

10) She is not aware of anything beyond Alaska'a borders as shown her in interview with Charlie Gibson. Can anyone say "Bush Doctrine"?

11) She is a liar. She was nauseating in repeating when it came to the brideg to nowhere "I said thanks but no thanks". Several sources has done fact checks that confirm this is a flat out lie. She flip flopped on the subject and kept the money.

12) She is so scripted she is like a parrot. Refer to point #11 and the Thanks but no Thanks line. Again evidence that the intelligent people in her party are terrified by giving her free reign to speak.

12) McCain is a liar. He constantly approves ads that are out and out lies or intentionally misleading. We've had 8 years of that type of thinking, in fact that type of thinking led us into a false war.

13) Temper, temper temper. McCain's temper is out of control as evidenced by his reaction to the economy's troubles. Temper, forgetfullness and a critical lack of the ability to grasp facts and issues make him not only a wrong choice but a dangerous choice.

Whew! I dont have all night to write so I leave it there. So now, why to vote for Obama.

Intelligence
Competence
Calm
Coalition Builder
Morally Upright
A real family man - did not abandon his wife
Visionary

Do the Obama supporters here pretty much agree with all these points?
