Good source for keeping things in perspective and tracking how badly the media slants and hides the truth.

BTW

Newbusters is ran by Matthew Sheffield, who works for the Heritage Foundation.

The more you know.

CNN is a living definition of liberal bias. However, let’s not forget CBS, ABC, and NBC. A quick look at these reveals that liberal bias is not a problem limited to CNN alone. (To leave aside for the moment the left-leaning in the dead tree media)

There is a reason why the supporters of the leftist media do not label it biased; they think they’re at the political center. The importance of recognizing that assumption on the part of the liberal press, cannot be overemphasized.

It is, however, an assumption which would seem to be blown away by the ratings of the respective networks… as would any assumption about Fox being biased.

A look at the ratings of all four of the networks that we have established as liberal biased doesn’t approach what FNC has managed to do in terms of gathering viewers. TV, after all is the ultimate in popularity contesting. (Ask Katie Couric.) In short, the people have voted with their feet, as to which is biased and which is not. Fox won.

Yeah, watching TV for news is a lost cause. The best you can do is sample as many sources (print, TV, online, local, national, international) as possible to try to find the actual "facts", and then form your own opinion.

Not sure about your first statement, but we agree on your second. Yellow_Flash_Colorz_PDT_17

I'm saying I'm not dumb enough to believe anyone who attends a party convention is a true independent. Let's be honest, neither are you. You're just trying to play it up as a scandal even though both sides do it.

I'll debate you when you bring some real issues to the table, and not blog-riddled nonsense like that joke of a thread about how Obama threw a F*CKING flower.

If you choose not to see and/or address all the "real" issues presented here, that's your choice.

Yellow_Flash_Colorz_PDT_17

and I mistakenly said Independant, see my edit.

Or how about you support your candidate and/or positions and arguments by posting your own analysis and views. If you want to introduce "real" issues against John Mccain or Sarah Palin or the media bias at fox, then we can debate your positions and perspective, and not mine. Pointing out your opponents weaknesses is an acceptable position. The strategic debating idea here is to try to expose weaknesses in your opponent's argument.

Are you up to the challange? Yellow_Flash_Colorz_PDT_17

I call you to the matt.

It is indeed. But you still need to monitor main stream TV news, I don't recommend turning a blind eye or deaf ear to this medium, you must look at all sides and info presented.

If you want to see an example of the Fox news bias, take one look at Bill O'Reily.

O'Reilly falsely claimed that Rep. Frank "sat by" while "Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae made bad loans"

http://www.oreilly-sucks.com/foxbias.htm

I think you will find bias across the board. But which way, in whose favor is it unbalanced. I would/could provide evidence that it leans heavily to the left on many more stations then lean towards the center or right.

McCain Backers Lash Out at Media for Obama ‘Advocacy’

John McCain’s campaign and a supporter at a McCain rally separately accused the press of favoring Barack Obama on Monday, with McCain’s top strategist calling The New York Times a “pro-Obama advocacy organization.”

“Let’s be clear and be honest with each other about something fundamental to this race, which is this: Whatever the New York Times once was, it is today not — by any standard — a journalistic organization,” strategist Steve Schmidt told reporters on a conference call. “It is a pro-Obama advocacy organization that every day attacks the McCain campaign, attacks Senator McCain, attacks Governor [Sarah] Palin and excuses Senator Obama.”

Schmidt accused the Times of giving Obama a pass on his “deceitful ads” and abdicating its journalistic responsibility to vet Obama’s “background and past statements.” It was an unusually harsh critique for a campaign that last year enjoyed largely favorable press coverage.

“This is an organization that is completely, totally, 150 percent in the tank for the Democratic candidate,” Schmidt fumed. “It is an organization that has made a decision to cast aside its journalistic integrity and tradition to advocate for the defeat of one candidate — in this case John McCain — and to advocate for the election of the other candidate — Barack Obama.”

Bill Keller, executive editor of the Times, issued a written statement responding to Schmidt’s broadside.

“The New York Times is committed to covering the candidates fully, fairly and aggressively,” Keller wrote. “It’s our job to ask hard questions, fact-check their statements and their advertising, examine their programs, positions, biographies and advisers. Candidates and their campaign operatives are not always comfortable with that level of scrutiny, but it’s what our readers expect and deserve.”

Take a look at who owns these channels... Time Warner, universal, and Disney. There are only so many companies distributing media to us of course it is going to be biased.

That is incorrect. O'Reily is an asshole to EVERYONE that comes on his show.
