Ok so since we seem to be going through a bit of a change around here, I thought this might be the opportune time to bring forth my suggestion=).
I’ve been working on this for the last few weeks a little and think that it might be a good solution to our current problem…

My idea is fairly simple, it calls for what has in part already happened, I reduction in admins, as well as a wider scope of what the Staff handles…

The hierarchy here is fairly simple and linier and I think that it could be time to spread the workload out little to relieve some of the stress from the guys that are doing all the work

So anyway here it is…

The highest level a person can achieve here at n00bfest is Elder. They are the ones that have put in the time and have retired from the majority of the work (or at least that what they should do)

Below them are the staff members. Right now we have 5, and they do all the day-to-day stuff most people here don’t know about but is necessary for this place to run. It is this group that I think we need to expand to take the pressure off those above them so the elders can come in and have a nice relaxing time playing some counter-strike (which is what being an elder was meant to be back in the day).
So I propose a few new positions, I am not a staff member and I don’t know if these are already what you guys do, but I have been around for 3 years now so I have a pretty good understanding of how it works (I think), so here goes…

The staff positions should be as following…

The general of the staff- oversees all the staff members and coordinates them if they have any problems they need to take up with higher authority. This is most likely an active elder, or something along those lines.

Council leader- this guy is in charge of all the things the council does, including running and conducting it’s meetings. Have 10 members and decide New members and what not…(Bullet’s baby)

Membership forum moderator- is in charge of the membership forum. Pretty self explanatory, just like it always has been. (Judi has done this since I joined)

Competitive n00bfest leader- in charge of all of competitive n00bfest, sub-clans, and tournaments. Organizes and keeps in line all these groups. (I vote for Apok)

COD4 leader- since cod4 is becoming a major part of this community we need someone who runs it almost exclusively. Their job includes running cod4 n00bfest, recruiting and proposing admins ( Sox has this on lock down)


Admin coordinator- in charge of dealing with any concerns admins have, along with complaints to admins, and the unban request forum. This guy, or girl, looks possibly for new admins, promotions, demotions, and reports their opinions to the higher ups for consideration. Also deals with NBI business of inspecting demos of hackers.

After-hours moderator- keeps control over ALL the forums under that section to organize, and control the threads. Meaning mainly they put all the pron links together and what not.

Finance leader- this person tries to organize the n00bs to donate and meet the monthly money goals. This should probably be the person other than corpse that donates the most. This job can also include researching ways of bringing in more money from outside sources such as more sponsors. (I think Kitten would be a good choice for this one)

Webmaster- what Shotokan does…=)

-all these positions must work together as moderators to police the remainder of the forums and dictate the actions of the council and elders to make this place run properly

I know most of these positions are already what you guys do, and some do more than others, but with this set-up your looking at setting the bar at 50 admins. Maintained and controlled by the admin coordinator…
The admins then would be as follows:
Elders-6 (play on occasion)
Staff-9 or 10 (play semi-regular basis, at least a little bit every day)
Council-10(most active players on the server)
Other admins(to cover the times when the majority of admins don’t play)-say 20(random ppl that deserve it and should have admin but cant take on the responsibility of a position)

This would give us close to 50 total admins in a server with over 300 members and an average of 1,846 connections a day(its true, I looked it up!) I think this would be a fair number.


And so this is my idea, I know it’s lengthy, but in a community this size it has to be. There is room I think for more positions, and I have thought of more. But I have tried to keep this a simple as I could.
Please add anything you guys feel like there should be here, and please consider my idea. I think it would work out well.

I dont know much about how things run cause im so new so If anyone likes what falcon has to offer im also willing to help out where ever needed. So far yeah what you wrote Falcon seems about right to me as far as who is doing what around here from my newbie perspective.

I like this idea.. puts accountability in place, as well as easing the burden on the staff. It also opens up opportunities to contribute for the cash impaired.

Some problems I've encountered in other clans using this template:

Invariably there will be a few "Dept. heads" who are unable to commit as much of thier time as they thought. How do we replace them in a timely manner? As all depts. would answer to Corpse, we can't have one or two who fail to perform on a regular basis and A: bullet or someone takes up the slack or B: we vow to "elect" on by the next meeting.

I've seen some ppl in other clans have trouble adjusting to a broader powerbase (both those who gain, and those whos power is watered down a bit.)

How do we prevent hurt buttcheeks in the even someone doesnt get picked for job "X" ?

Some solutions I see:

It will be far easier for the new members to figure out (and remember) who in n00bfest does what, therefore helping them to get thier questions answered more quickly with less load for any one person.

well aside that i have no idea what corpse is doing i like this idea it will keep things orginized at least...well i dont know if things are orginized now....i dont know much to the fact, but if corpse has his own plans for n00bfest then i say just let corpse do his thing
