Only way to do it, s0x.

http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=sZVhtIx0zggqxV0x

That's my general build.

At 36, http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=sZV0xIx0zx

40, http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=sZVoxIx0zg0o

Then fill in as you wish.

Find areas full of melee mobs, grab about 2 - 3 at first and build up your confidence with it and increase as your gear gets better. Make sure you always have a shield spike. Keep Retribution Aura, Blessing of Sanctuary, and Righteous Fury up at all times.

Seal of Light, Judgement, Seal of Light, Holy Shield once in a while. Let the mobs kill themselves on your reflective damage. Your damage is strictly for SoL and JoL procs to heal yourself. If you have enough mana, feel free to Consecrate every once in a while.

At 69 with a decent bit of defense, I can pull the entire area of Demon Hunters in Karabor and let them all kill themselves on me with little worry.

Once I'm raid tank geared, I do it with no worry and I can take on the elite.

Questing is good too, but I generally tend to only do collection quests or kill a ton of melee mob quests. It's great to gather a group of 15 whatevers, kill them all, and loot all 8 items you needed for the quest in about 1/3rd of the time it takes someone else to do it one by one.

My newest paladin got to 58 and then went straight to grinding the undead in Hellfire Peninsula until 62 and I've got all the quests in the area to do, but since I can tank too, I can just instance grind another level or two to reputation cap before doing the quests.

thanks man, i was able to do it on the private server pretty fun and easy.

I jsut started an account on retail and gonna do the same thing.

(later i relized (after looking at combat logs) the private server does not give damage off shield spike nor use a charge of holyshield)

so if i was able to do it there, im sure retail will be easy.

Getting gear starting from 1 sucks though >.>

Dues with the patch that gives more exp for 30-60, the best way to level as paladin is ret hands down.

the thing about aoe grinding is that you can take on multiple mobs at once, so thats more xp point per walk distance compared to questing ret is good for single target dps but with aoe grind the more mobs you take on the higher your dps shoots, not to mention the higher chance of getting good drops increases for money.

So depending on your style of play Ret for single target dps or prot for aoe grinding, either or will be fine, I tried aoe grind first hand and loved it so thats what im sticking to

I'm not a fan of playing a pally.

Wrong.

Ret can take down mobs faster 1 by 1 than prot paladin tanking 7 mobs at once dues to Ret's burst.

Take into downtime into cosideration
Ret pally can take down a single mob faster than a prot pally taking on one mob

but in the time it takes a ret pally to take down 2 mobs, a prot pally has already taken down 4-6 mobs and has full hp and/or mana

I rarely have to drink up for mana because I'm always conserving my mana but again, I leveled 2 paladins to 70, both ret until 58 and holy to 70.

Its more of a personal pref. too though ive played other mmorpg and dont mind the grinding.

Also, as an aoe build paly you can tank for instances. Most people want a healing paly or tank if no warrior is avaialbe. Theres other classes than can dish out better dps than a paly can.

Hello, Ret paladin.

Would you like to bring mediocre buffs to our raid or would you mind respecing to tank or heal and be useful?

The only time I honestly want a ret pally is when I'm pally tanking. Their aura is very nice for my threat.

im more of a caster player, I like my mage (didnt want to do lock since my friend had already done one) and I think pally is a great mix between melee and caster

Yes its mostly a melee character but it has some nice casts/spells

the judgments is flippen awesome
seals are great and auruas are equally as great (especially the resist auras in raids)

the only thing in ret talent spec that i wish was in one of the other trees is the sanctaty aura +heal+holy dmg ftw.

when I hit 61 or so im going to respec to shockadin holy/ret mostly for pvp, but since ill be deep into holy ill be a healadin for raids and such

This is how I broke down palys

ret - solo/pvp
prot - tankadin/Aoe Grinding/raids (mostly tanking trash mobs)
holy - healadin/raid (most wanted) / pvp (burst shock build)
