 MOTHERBOARD WOES
My MOBO on my main PC took a shit on me. It's a couple years old, so no warranty help is coming. I'm having to want for ebay auctions to end because a new one direct would cost $250.
I won't be online too much for a week or so while I get the new equipment and get things re-assembled.

Why do you need a $250 mobo? Unless you have some very unique hardware, you should be able to find a replacement board for much less. You might need to reinstall windows if you get a different mobo, but it's not that bad.

I've got a high-end gaming board with a striped RAID-0 using two 10K rpm Raptor drives (using the onboard SATA RAID setup). Replacement by the same board will give me a very high chance of not losing any data and keeping the same performance.
ASUS P5N32-SLI SE Deluxe
If you have one to spare, please contact me ASAP!
:-)

i'm in a similar situation corpse. i have asus crosshair, and the thing is on it's last leg. it already fried one of my gfx cards. my main problem is that my system is liquid cooled and it's overheating cause there isn't enough airflow through the box. so now i have the side panel off and a house fan blowing into the side of it..... it's teh ghey.
and he's right about replacing with the same mobo. it's the only way to have a chance at retaining data. i have all my important stuff backed up on an external hard drive, but still, reinstalling everything sucks major ass, i've already done it once. good luck corpse!

It was probably one of the worst $209 investments I've ever made. I find it is extremely hard to play video games with a giant dick in your ass.

Yeah yeah, I know. If you run tests using benchmark software, you see a major difference in performance. If you just run them in real life, I can't tell a difference.
I might move over to RAID-1 when I get things running again.
UNLESS, of course, upgrading to a 64 bit OS will improve my RAID-0 performance.
