alright, so im in college and have about 150 bucks to invest, but i dont know much about how to do it...

any of you n00bs out there have you money tied up in anything and would like to explain the good and bad things about the stock market?

and what services to you use? online investing or a brokerage firm?

If you know enough use online; It's cheaper, but theres no one to really help you if you don't know what your doing. Brokerage firm has actual people you can talk to (chuck, but dont talk to him hes a flamer). Don't invest in the USA, China is SUPPOSED to have the largest gain in a couple of years if you want a long term investment.

Unless you have a few thousand to spare, put it in a high yield savings account. That's the only way you're going to make any money on $150. If you can get $500, CD's are a good option.

i agree. but i was looking at getting into the market stuff and the $100 is just want i can start with, being in college and all

Dude, don't try to play the market with 100 bucks. The fees to buy stock run about 10 bucks, so you'd already be down 10% right off the bat.

If you just want to stick that somewhere and forget about it, put it into ESLR. This thing is going to explode any day now.

yeah, you can't do sh!t in the stock market unless you have a few grand. i was going to invest like $3k in some stocks, but when you start looking at the price of some stocks, you can't get very far even with that much money. the stock would have to have huge gains in order to make anything, and like state radio said, you can't expect that to happen with the market in the US.

the way of the stock market is to buy low and sell high... but 150 isnt much you are better of getting a CD with your bank and building credit and if its a high yield return double jackpot
