Post Counter Strike banned in Brazil
The decision was announced by Carlos Alberto Simões de Tomaz, a judge from the Judicial District of Minas Gerais, and was supposed to affect the entire country. However, only now a Brazilian entity has started to act.

Procon, a federal entity established to defend the consumers' rights, has already begun apprehending all Counter-Strike and EverQuest copies in the state of Goiás, as these titles have been considered "inappropriate" and "harmful for consumers".

Procon is already investigating several LAN centers in the state, and starting yesterday, seventeen have been notified. According to Procon, these games have to be deleted from every computer, otherwise the owner will have to pay a daily fine of almost $3,000 USD and may have his establishment being closed. In stores, all Counter-Strike and EverQuest copies have been removed from the shelves and sent to the Ministry of Justice.

"This is a big damage, because our games are original, and although Counter-Strike is old, it is the key-game of every LAN house," Lucas Tiago Bretanha Abacheri, owner of Escuderia Lan House, told UOL.com.br.

Sebastião Natal de Oliveira from the Goiás section of Procon has already stated that all server providers will be notified by Monday, although he was unable to confirm if this service has also been prohibited.

Meanwhile, Electronic Arts (EA), the official Counter-Strike distributor in Brazil, has already commented on this matter, saying: "EA has not been notified by Justice yet (...) EA is waiting for the Judicial notification to take the appropriate measures."
