Because that's the rules. HBO sprays are ok, X rated is not.

Because language is language. And our server is public. If you wanted to, you could go out on the streets and just let out and scream all the profanities you want. You'll get arrested there, and you'll likely get muted here. If you go out into public and put up porn pix in your grocery store, you'll get arrested. Here, you'll get banned. There's a certain IRL equality that is maintained.

I just said more on that than anyone had to.

No they are not. And, quite frankly, it's retarded to compare the two.

Saying "F*CK" is not the same thing as showing F*CK.

Saying "pu$$y" and looking at one, not even in the same ballpark.

Calling someone a "fagot" and gazing upon hairy salad awaiting to be tossed, quite different.

And even if it wasn't, it's a rule. You don't have to understand it, just follow it.

We have loosened the rules on sprays lately. Porn sprays are fine, with certain guidelines established.

Also, the foul language has always been meant all in good fun. There are rules against calling black people the n-word here. Calling a white member a AFRICAN AMERICAN is funny. Calling a black member one is not. Calling a male member a C*CK is funny, calling a female one the same thing is not.

I know these things probably won't make the majority of GNG members come running here, and that's a shame because I like most of them and I would really like for them to come and play here and join in the shit-talking (just like you have you turd-lick). I feel your frustration with not getting the rest of them over here, and maybe that will change eventually.

The rule of thumb is all about irony and toilet humor. X-rated sprays are forbidden. Nudity and sexual content are fine, though. Profanity is fine as long as it doesn't cross the line and become an actual personal attack. When you shoot me and I call you a "F*CKING HOMOSEXUAL AFRICAN AMERICAN", it's mainly because you're NOT black and NOT homosexual. Picking on people's real traits can be funny to a certain degree (especially if you actually know the person), but generally speaking, it's rude.

I will say this, though.... something will have to change soon because the past few days while playing in the server I've had to do voice_enable 0 on myself because it's getting so annoying with the constant mic spamming. I'm not sure what the new rules should be, but it will likely involve regulating the QUANTITY of conversation more than the CONTENTs.

Same with the language - saying "F*CKING bullshit, C*CK!" when someone shoots you is fine (especially if you know them; if you don't know them then you run the risk of looking like an asshole and getting complaints against you). Telling a female player that you want her to suck your C*CK is WAY the F*CK out of line and completely unacceptable.

You see? It's like the wild west out there with cowboy and cowgirl n00bs all over the F*CKING place, but there is in fact a line that should not be crossed with regard to porn AND language. The focus is mainly on how the recipient FEELS about the "abuse". Someone like Sammie could come here and probably not be verbally attacked during her game play until people got to know her. Unfortunately, she would overhear things happening between other and not know that they've been talking to each other like this for 2 years already and they're cool with each other.

The observers tend to get shocked, I admit. But it's the feelings of the victim that really matters. Trust me, we psay things to people when they're stepping out of line with people they don't know, or with someone that doesn't deserve it. The server doesn't see it, but there are warnings that take place when people cross the boundary lines.

The website has words censored because I can't control the public areas and private areas separately. Besides, people seeing them censored is close enough anyway. I should probably put some sort of notice on the MOTD in the server though, letting people know what they're getting into, though.
