I was going to post this on the FEAR page before it told me to log in.


I can just imagine Cartel sitting there with a huge chubby, gloating over his victory. He's going to be pounding one out while thinking that he single-handedly shut down the FEAR section of n00bfest even though he didn't do anything.

He might think he had something to do with it, but we out-lived his efforts.

It's a total lack of interest by the main n00bfest community that is driving the decision (mainly).

Secondarily, our most senior admin and most active forum member in the FEAR community just isn't like most of the other n00bfest moderators and admins. It's just not the same without actual n00bfest support from some of the long-timers.

n00bfest FEAR began to turn into something I did not like. I treat it just like I treat sex with dead bodies - when I stop enjoying it, I'll stop paying for it.

Should be back around the $150-$180 mark with the servers and site and other subscriptions.

We're cutting the FEAR servers, Halo server, and the 14 player Source server. The 14 player source server has been flat-lined for over two weeks since we got the big source server now.

Fees are something like this now:
1. Server rentals at less than $120 a month now
2. Site fees at $30 a month
3. $8 a month for the server stats (not the player stats but the actual server stats with the graphs and whatnot)
4. Roughly $5 a month for all the domain registrations (n00bfest and n00bmart in various spellings, plus CorpseHumper.com and Shin0bu.com [the Shin0bu site will make more sense to everyone in 6 months or so)

Plus whatever incidentals come around from time-to-time. There's always something happening that requires some cash. The skins for the site have cost anywhere from $30-50 each, and we'll expand on those as money allows.

Cutting 5 servers is a real help, though. It's been expensive as shit to maintain those servers, and they are dead in the water with no action whatsoever. Thanks to all those generous donors helping to keep me from getting my lights turned off while I was paying those crazy rates for empty servers. You folks rock! This is why n00bfest lives on when others give up. Because I'm a stubborn old F*CK that doesn't know when to quit!!
