As I said, F*CKING DON'T DO IT.


I had it and it plagued my computer. It refused use of Internet Explorer, Control Panel and recently, Steam. When I saw Steam no make worky I knew I had to bust a move.

Long story short I've slain the dragon that is A-squared for this computer, but to help you all out I thought I'd let you know that if you think you have a virus, do not get a2. You will be buck futted.

My recommendations are Spybot S&D, AVG or Norton (if you update it every 6 seconds).

Err...I dislike most of them. AVG is good out of those.
For some reason though, I really like avast! Not only are some versions of it free, but it does a good job and updates quicker than most other AV's.

Avast! Is, i guess small, but widely heard of. It can only be bought from their online store i think. But there is a free version for personal use only.

Avast is the best free antivirus on the net. I've used it for years.

Roll with Avast or Kaperski, then run Ad-Aware and SpyBot S&D monthly. If you like to screw around with torrents or downloading mp3s and shit, setup a separate PC or a multi-boot system with Linux on it. I recommend Ubuntu for a home system. It's a single CD image, easy intuitive install, and simple interface. Download your junk and check it in Linux before transfering it to your Windows system.

I think we should setup a n00bfest Security Forum for discussions like this. There's a lot of risky shit out there these days and we could all pool our resources and share information to help protect ourselves. Some of us have been rolling in this cyber bullshit for years. We have several network admins, code-hackers, and programmer-types in the group so we could probably answer almost any question and make lots of recommendations to help people not make stupid decisions.
