F*CKING root kit.

I put it in to listen while i'm on my computer. Instead of playing, or even doing anything like that, it goes straight to a install shield. Trying to install some kind of program for digital rights management. I stopped. I canceled. I couldn't exit, so i had to alt-ctrl-del end task it.

So i never installed. I just ran a hijack this scan, and found i have a SONY rootkit. EVEN THOUGH i never installed through the install shield.

F*CKING SONY.

How dare they arbitrarily install software onto my computer? I didn't even agree to the TOS on the instillation shield.

Can i sue?

I did some research on it. Sony actually was sued, they offered discounts and refunds to those people who bought the cd's, PLUS released a patch that deleted the rootkit, but the patch actually didn't delete all of it.

Now Sony is suing the author of the rootkit they paid to make it for them, saying it created security exploits on the infected computers. Something like 30 million dollars.

I dislike the entire direction technology is going. People are trying to get ISP's to start filtering data transfer to weed out illegal piracy, and we have mega cooperations trying to create alternate PAY PER VIEW fiber optic lines, that only certain people who pay more money can view sites. Net neutrality, net censorship, ect.ect.ect.

Something is going to have to be done pretty soon to defend the net liberties that we enjoy now, because in about 10 years, the computer and internet will be completely different.

The weirdest part is, some of the main players trying to control the internet are also fighters for freedom of sexuality (but only for homosexuals), freedom of religeon (meaning freedom of all religeons except Christianity, which has to be censored and removed), and they promote free immigration of anyone (in any quantity) that wants to come here.

Strange how some people fight for so much minority freedom, but try to suppress or completely remove the freedoms of the majority.

I believe in freedom for all. Except for people that post book spoilers on the internet. Those are the lowest of the low and must be punished by uppercunts to the buttpussy.

I think they SHOULD pay in a case like this. Regardless of the TOS, there's a certain expectation when purchasing or renting software and/or movies, and that expectation does not include full access and distribution of your personal information. Deception is not good business.
