"Flickering" moniter
I'm not sure how to accurately describe this. I'm not computer genius. But every once in a while my laptop screen will "flicker" Essentially the screen will be divided into many divisions sort of like on tv when you get bad reception you get that dual image thing. If i move my mouse to the upper right corner the screen will start to "flicker" at a faster rate and create a faux strobe effect. Every time it happens i am forced to restart my computer and await the next time it rears its ugly face. What is this? and how can I stop it from happening?
Are you sure you are not having a seizure or blinking really really fast.
Seriously though, make sure your video drivers are up to date and maybe try changing the refresh rate up. Like from 60hertz to 70 or more. I don't know how you'd do it with a laptop but making sure all the cables are securly connected would also be a plus.

what's vsync? and where do i change refresh rate on laptops? the thing that i dont get is this is pretty new laptop too it's only a few months old
Those settings would all be in the video card settings. You'll have to explore alittle to find it, sometimes it will have an icon in the system tray the you can right-click to access video display settings.
If the laptop is fairly new it might be under warrenty<sp>. Go to the manufacturers<sp> website and look for a "support" link. They may have a faq there for you or a way to contact tech support via email. That would be your best bet.

I guess you could say my monitor does the same thing, but just not "flickering." Everyonce in a while it'll show these bright dotted lines across the screen that move depending on certain object colors. I'd have to get a screen shot some time but it's been like this for a long time so I know the monitor isn't dying.
