no. what he's saying is that you need to delete the clientregistry.blob or whatever the F*CK it was...restart your computer and open steam up after its restarted. steam will have to update..but that's fine.

well shit...the only other thing i could think of would be to uninstall Steam and reinstall it. its a bitch, i know...but it sounds like the last thing to try.

dude just delete clientregistery.blob restart steam update it adn your good to go thats all you have to do if not uninstall from add/remove programs completely uninstall it make sure you have no folders of steam what so ever on your comp so look in programs files and delete valve or steam then install it agian

If it's not showing up next to the clock it means it isn't running, double-click the steam icon. Also, if you're running XP, try clicking the little arrow at the bottom right that shows inactive icons.
