Post New Song - Gone
Wrote the lyrics out for a new song:

http://kphace.deviantart.com/art/Gone-303661875

I actually intend to make a recording in the near future, though it'll probably just be a video because I need gear. It probably won't be played on a high quality instrument, either.

You've been gone, gone, gone and I've waited here so long,
You've been gone, gone, gone, gone, gone.
You've been gone, gone, gone while my mind races on,
You've been gone, gone, gone, gone, gone.

I've been sitting right here, I've been waiting for you, my dear,
I've been sitting right here, yes I'm sittin' right here.
I've been sitting right here and I never shed no tears,
I've been sitting right here, on my rear in my easy chair.

I have faith in you, yes it's true, yeah, yes it's true,
I have faith in you, and my heart is calling you.
I have faith in you, and good Lord, I ain't no fool,
I have faith in you, yes you know, you know it's true.

I never once looked around for another in this town,
I never once looked around in this town.
If you come back to me, oh my heart will fill with glee,
Hey oh, you better come back to me.

If you come back to me, oh I'll kiss ya, oh you'll see,
You better run right here to me.
You've been gone, gone, gone and Lord, I'm sure it won't be long,
'till you're coming back home to me.

You've been gone, gone, gone, but my heart is beating strong,
and you say you're coming back to me.
You've been gone, gone, gone and now my patience is gone,
and well, I see a new lover just for me.

Now you're gone no more, but I've moved in with the one next door,
Yeah, I'm in love with you no more.
For you, my love's gone cold, them tender feelings have grown old,
It's been gone, it's done gone cold.

Are you actually giving me a compliment or just trolling around to up your post count for your n00b application? If it's the first, could you offer a more enriching critique?

WAY to much repetition.

Reminds me of a song by Bush.

They say mouth like 40 F*CKING times!

Can't stand it.

Ummm it's a F*CKING blues song. Blues songs are known for their repetitive nature. Here's me trying to figure it out (it's definitely not done, it was also my first time trying to sing the lyrics and I totally fucked it up) The first part is just a bit of the guitar though it's only one of the pieces:

Shoulda posted this with the lyrics but I forgot.

That's a shitty excuse..

that's like me writing a shitty metered song about gore and guts and going...."umm duhh it's F*CKING Death Metal song"...

I meh'd at the vocals but I bet you could get some bitches to get naked with that voice.

Yeah, I am aware of the voice lol. Seeing as how I can go from Johnny Cash to Axl Rose within the same stretch of singing.

Also, I acknowledge that the lyrics are pretty lazily done. It took me 5 minutes to write and I've since done some minor improvement. Still gonna work on it so that there is a recognizable chorus which will be the only part with repetitive lines.

Look, you can get defensive if you want, but I listen to some blues, not all, but a little.

and NONE of it has that much repetition in it.

GL with it though.

Don't know what blues you listen to, but a LOT of it has repetitive lyrics. Just watch any old blues documentary about the origins and such, listen to goddamn B.B. King. In fact, when I google "Repetitive Blues Lyrics" I get almost eight hundred thousand hits.

And for the record, repetition doesn't always suck, as this awesome song can attest (not blues):

Now was I trying to write a song with complexity? F*CK no. If you look around the forums, you'll find that I've written songs with no repetition whatsoever, not even a chorus.

Sorry Nirvana was as deep and as good as a 13 year olds diary/journal. Shitty example if you ask me.

As for the whole repetitive lyrics being a trait of blues, I'm Switzerland.

Yeah, I grew up with Nirvana as a 13 year old, so excuse me if you don't see the depth.
Kurt Cobain was an excellent songwriter and his lyrics often held much depth, you just aren't going to find it if you don't recognize it for what it is. Fact of the matter is a lot of the songs had to be listened to in ways akin to Christ's parables. Hidden shit.

LOL!

That song sucks harder than a two dollar whore trying to make a bill down on the burg.

Cobain whine and cried.

Hated it.

Besides. Courtney Love was the best thing that ever happened to Nirvana.

Bahaha Strange and Tazzler are pretty accurate here. I am no musical judge or anyone who can actually bash your music. Your music is your own and I can just give my opinion. With that said......I think you might want to try and spice it up, the song is just bleak and not like a good bleak like some of the sad songs nickel creek does. Its like a lame bleak that every artist has done or tried to do a million times over. The cool thing about music is when people come up with new things and try something different, if you were to add something that made the song different it may have some potential. Like this sounds like a narration of every 13 year old who had a crush on a girl that didn't come through. Hopefully something can be added to maybe mature the song so its not as you said, a 5 minute write.

If you're not paying attention I'm so sorry. The song wasn't intended to be something very creative it's SUPPOSED to be a run-of-the-mill bluesy thing. I have intentions to other things but this particular thing is what it is and it's like that because I chose to make it so simply because there is a market for it and I already know that I like it well enough to keep it boring as F*CK. It's not the end of the world. It's written in that style because that's the style it's in.

You know what you're right, go ahead and enjoy mediocrity. Isn't that what that list of corporate leaders would like you to do?

It's not a matter of mediocrity, it's a matter of simplicity.

If I wanted this particular song to be of a complex or intricate nature, I would have written something like this:

viewtopic.php?f=104&t=44530 which quite clearly demonstrates that I know the difference between this and something that you're attempting to say is a 'more valid form of expression'.
