I think he meant hardware wise, as you can constantly update the hardware of a PC to make it more powerful, where as with a console...well you're stuck with the same hardware for about 5 years.

As for patches and new content, well...ask anyone who plays TF2 on consoles about new content, I'm sure you'll get a glowing response...

Plus, a lot of the times, new maps and stuff can be obtained for free on the PC version where people playing the console versions have to pay for it. Just take a look at the CoD 4 map pack on the 360, those maps were added to the next patch at no charge on the PC version.

Diablo 3 won't be on 360, trust me on that. The only console game that Blizzard made was straight port of SC and that was...bad.

ok wait, expansions/map packs/upgrades on consoles are EXTREMELY limited. you only get what they offer (4 maps for COD4), and as ozark said you have to buy them.

on PC, there are shitloads of maps/mods that you can download and play for free, you can review them before you download them to see if they are worth the time. plus, you can BUILD YOUR OWN maps on PC and can create your own mods and servers. you can't do shit on consoles like that. sure they have "online gaming" where you can have friends to play with, but like geno said you can't form the same community setting like you can on PC. or maybe you can, but your clan/community website and forum would have to be viewed on your PC (if you have one).

yes consoles are cheaper than a monster gaming PC, but that's because consoles target audience age is 2-30+. there is no way i would buy my child a gaming PC if they were 12 or younger. most kids play lots of silly games that don't require the high processing and frames like COD. if my kid wanted to play video games and wanted a PC, i would spend the least i could, becuase i know how kids treat their "toys" (non gaming PCs start under $300 now). so i could spend 200-400 for a console, and 300-800 for PC, and still save compared to a real gaming PC.

yes consoles offer steady frames for games, but the controls are shit compared to PC and you only get what they give you out of the box or the limited downloads they offer every 4-6 months.

in conclusion... PC > console.

oh im not saying im a console fan. love my 360 and loved my snes and others, but con the computer they have emulators for that kind of thing. besides i remember when they ported diablo to the playstation. gfx were shitty and gameplay was lacking. nothing compared to the pc version. im just saying that with all the marketplace advancements and whatnot with upgraded consoles, who knows who the bigger fanbase out there is gonna be?

I don't understand why we can't have our cake and eat it to. I have a PC and an Xbox and I like them both. My PC is versatile, I can bs in vent, browse the internet, edit photos, and post this comment. Plus I personally like my shooters and MMOs on the PC, my thumb is an idiot and I can't aim with it but I still enjoy Gears of War for the xbox.

My xbox is great because I can play it sitting on the couch and the graphix are beautiful I wish my PC looked as good. Action games such as RockBand and SF4 have controls that I am used to and the RPGs are good.

I don't know but I only need 2 or 3 really good games a year that hold my interest then sprinkle that with some so-so games and I'll be happy, and This generally happens with both the PC and console so double to w00t, and there are games that I am just not interested in for some reason or another, like Halo. I played the first two and really didn't care for them, meh it's just who I am and you don't see me saying video games are for douches and pen and paper role playing is where its at cuz they have a new D&D edition, I know that most people just ain't into that. Your gonna like what you like and thats fine. Can't we all just get along. o.O

Well it has taken four days for you guys to start giving some valid points.Such as,more free content,the ability to make your own games,ability to upgrade key components and being multi functional.


As far me i will end this now and concede.But before i do let me point out that I DO LOVE PC GAMING! I have been gaming on the pc much like Geno since games were on tape on my tandy.Since then i have played just about every pc game worth playing.I played CS since beta 1 and beta tested steam for over a year,[could be the reason it sucked so bad at launch] the game you hold so dear to your hearts now.

I have built my own computers for the last 6-7 years and had the 12th fastest gaming pc according to ORB 3 years ago.Ive been swapping out cpu's since the first Pentiums and video cards since the voodoo days.Thats the problem,there hasn't been a game worthy of a upgrade for the last couple years.

Or maybe i have just gotten lazy and had rather just hit the power button instead of tweaking my pc till i thought i got all the frames and iq i could.


Maybe if more people like you guys were fighting the good fight pc gaming wouldn't be on the way out.But if the shelf space for pc games gets any smaller i can assure you there will be no one to take the torch when you guys give up.

The thing about PC gaming is they only display the newer games on the shelves. If you look at PS3 and 360 shelves, they have games from launch still on shelves. It may have a bigger selection, but it looks like either no one is buying, or they keep restocking the same old games. And a lot of PC games are being distributed digitally now.

However the downside to PC gaming is torrents. Console gaming is appealing to many developers due to the fact that games cannot be copied and redistributed.

And while PC gaming has it's pros and cons so does console gaming.

There were internal talks of SC2 and D3 being released on consoles.

i dont ever think PC games will die. thats where consoles are rooted from. besides, no matter how lovely or beautiful a console game is, a PC can make that game shine so much better.

Its pretty standard for major franchise titles to be released on all consoles now days. (like final fantasy for xbox 360)
