Post HELP!
I already tried this topic in the Tech Support for about a week but anyone who checks that forum obviously can't help me.

I just built my new machine about a week ago and it was runnin fine until about 3 days ago. Sometimes when it's idling, the processor will be idling between 47 and 50. never any lower or higher than the two. I can't figure the s**t out, i figured it was a virus or spyware so i did a reformat after i realized AVG or Adware wasn't pickin anything up and it still does it.

On certain startups it will be fine for as long as I leave it up, could be 2 days, could be a month. But alot of the time on any given startup it'll idle strictly at 98% - 100% I have 8 more days on my hardware warranty's and i wanna get this figured out.

Specs:
Sigma Phantom case
Asus M3A Mobo
AMD Dual-core 3.0Ghz 64Bit
4GB OCZ DDR2 Ram
Nvidia 8900 GTX 512MB

sounds alot like a bug i had. with me, explorer.exe was fucked up and had my cpu running at like 90 to 100% constantly. my comp would freeze, then un-freeze every 10 seconds or so. i tried everything to fix it, asked everybody i could think of. i tried reinstalling SP2 (SP3 wasn't out yet) cuz i heard doing so fixes explorer.exe corruptions. didn't work. i ended up having to reinstall windows, which is probably what you're gonna end up having to do. so, i dont think it's a hardware issue.

edit: LOL, just realised you did a reformat. wow. hmmmm... lemon cpu?

I've been building comps for about 8 years now and i've never run across this type of problem this soon after a build. even with nothing on it but what windows installs itself, it still does it. I'm thinking Im gonna take the mobo and CPU back and just get them changed to eliminate any problems there

yeah, that sux. i just started a new job fixing computers, too. i need to hone my troubleshooting skills.

i just built a new rig too (lian li tower, abit ip35 mobo, intel q6600 quad core, 4gig ocz ddr2, 8800gtx 768mb). fortunately, i have had zero problems. it went together without a hitch. and i love it. if it had a big enough hole in it, i'd F*CK it. lol
