I know people complain about alltalk and you have to stfu when dead, but thats when people want to talk. Why not make it so you can talk to your teammates when your alive on the mic, and you can talk to everyone who is dead when your dead. I think the command is mani_dead_alltalk 1 or something

We're a social community, as anyone who has spent time in the server could tell you, but we still show respect to our fellow players when they need to hear footsteps and whatnot.

Sorry if that seemed ad hominem... I don't get much play time in the servers anymore so I'm not sure who the rule breakers and who the rule followers are.

The point is, if the rules are followed this change should not be necessary.. so rather than changing the rules, we ought to simply enforce the existing ones.

Anyways, he's not suggesting it because he likes to talk a lot, he's always typing. He's suggesting it because a lot of people don't shut up when they're dead, so this way people can talk to each other without disturbing the people still alive.

I think it's a good idea, but I don't really mind people talking either.

from my experience the dont talk when dead is pretty laxed.. .though when its down to 1v1 or so and the person alive does ask people to stfu if your dead.. they usually do

the server is a pub and lots of people dont go in there for the game so much as for the lively chatter

i'll be honest, there are times when the talking drives me nuts. i usually just disable all voice, so no one can assault my ears. most of the time it's ok though, cause people usually stfu when you ask them to. the only time it gets bad is when the fag level rises and there are no admins on.

This might be worth trying just to see how it works out. You could still call the person that killed you some dirty names, but you'd have to wait until they're dead to do it.
