build your own, you'll spend less and get about the same as buying one of those expensive shits. I have an old hp and it's been taking a lickin but I can't really play source any more, so I'm saving my pennys to build my own.

Yeah I built my own computer this week for about 1/3 what I would have paid from HP. If you aren't comfortable building your own then its based on personal preference. If you want the latest and the greatest then alienware is the choice if you want a decent computer at a decent price then HP would be the choice.

Alienware ain't what it used to be.You do know Dell owns them now and Dell ain't what they used to be.I would build my own,for one its cheaper and would run so much faster. There are plenty of guys around here that could walk you through it.Takes about 2 hrs to build your own. This ain't brain surgery.

If you absolutely do NOT want to build you're own computer...

Do NOT get an alienware...I've heard MANY MANY bad things about them. Mainly that you're expensive computer will only work for about a week, then something will fail (usually the mobo). THen you have a hell of a time replacing it because of shitty customer service.

Hell, a brother of one of my friends had an alienware and it went bad. He called customer service and to fix it, they literally told him to cut the strip that said "You're warranty is void if this seal is broken."

Google "alienware sucks" and you'll see all of the horror stories (and there are lots of them). I know you shouldn't always go by word of mouth, but when you're investing that much money, you usually don't wanna worry about shit like that.

Built mine 2 years ago, spent 2.4k but it can kick any of today's games asses.

If you aren't comfortable with building your own, I could build it for you and ship it to you. But depending on the weight, shipping might cost a bit.

alienware is over priced. there are a few places online to get custome pc's built. i bought mine from digital storm. i have had issues with my motherboard though. i do have to say, i've had a couple dell's before this one and never had any problems with them. not sure if this helps at all, but just wanted to give my input.

I want to punch people who buy Alienware's in the back of the head. Build your own is the best way to go. You know exactly what you're getting and it's much easier than people think it is. If you must buy a store bought, HP and Emachines are the only companies putting out quality computers right now.

Cyberpower - you can have one built for a price that's only a little more than what you would pay doing it yourself (which is the best way to go over all choices).

Dell hasn't really taken over any of alienwares operation. The only thing that came out of that whole deal is that alienware now gets parts cheaper because Dell gets parts cheaper. Alienware still has all of their own manufacturing facilities and shit.

But yeah, build a machine.

It was probably one of the worst $209 investments I've ever made. I find it is extremely hard to play video games with a giant dick in your ass.

If you're building from complete scratch, you'll end up paying about as much as you will if you buy an HP or Dell. Alienware just gives you top-grade shit you won't even use or need.

And for fucks sake if you build your own make sure your power supply cables are long enough.

Only thing I hate about HP's are those bulk softwares that they have on their computers. My last desktop pc was an Emachine (beefed it up to top games 2 years ago) and it served me well, still owns today. I agree on just building your own but if you're not too comfortable at doing it, just go customize your own at cyberpowerpc.com or wherever. You'll save a lot more money than buying a shitty ass overpriced Alienware.
