 Ping Probs ok....out of game I'm pinging 50-80....in game I can't get anything lower then 200.....not just our servers....every server...every steam game

I had that problem about a couple of weeks ago and i fixed it exiting out steam and restarting it and it fixed it. Try that how i fixed mine. If that dosen't work i dont know. :wink:

good for me maybe good for you just try.. if not remember what they where set to before: cl_cmdrate 30 cl_rate 30 rate 20000 :It also depends on your connection so just monkey around with it and see what you get!

my rate is 9999 and my ping has dropped way down. thank you very much. i was just trying to be helpful. i figured if it worked for me, it might work for him.

I think Ocelot is talking about his cl_rate, and Baldreaper is reffering to the actual rate.
Use SpyBot and Adaware SE. They're the two I use, and they clean out your machine pretty well, I think.

Well, now that we got that all figured out!
Your rates are not going to affect your "ping". At least not to the extent of dropping it a couple hundred. Rates are more for adjusting your "loss", "choke", and "FPS"! Can we say "SPYWARE"?

cl_rate 9999 (or is that cl_rate 999??) after reading this post I'm confused about it. go to LV's post for this.
But like bald said, it's probably a virus or somebody is using your line
