So, the talk about an Osama october surprise in the other thread prompted me to start this one.

What do you guys think we should do about Osama/Pakistan?

Here are some points to consider:

-majority of intelligence sources think Osama is hiding in northwest Pakistan

-he has evaded capture for 7 years

-there is some evidence to say that Pakistan's intelligence corps may have loyalties to Islamic militants rather than the secular government

-the US considers Pakistan a key military ally in the region (or at least did while Musharraf was in power)

-due to percieved inactivity on the part of Pakistan, the US recently started launching cross-border ground raids from Afghanistan into Pakistani territory

-in response to these raids, Pakistani armed forces have begun firing warning shots or direct shots at American forces who cross the border

-some people have started to question to actual value of catching Osama: either because he has already been neutralized and isolated from the network, or it would give al-Qaeda a new martyr to take inspiration from, etc.


What'chall think?

I think IF Osama is actually alive then we're in a predicament either way.

If he keeps evading us then the US appears weak seeing how our superior military forces are unable to capture Osama over all these years. This will be shown as an example that the US is vulnerable and aid in recruiting.

If we capture him there will undoubtingly be an increase in terrorist activites across the world. This could also help them in recruiting.

Killing him is not an option.


There is no way to win against extremists unless your able to eliminate all of them which because of the world's population size it's virtually impossible to do so. They twist and turn everything to suit their goals and needs and do whatever it takes to gain new recruits.

I say the US sets up a super secret mission and creates a fake terrorist organization in the middle east and gets a hold of some russian nukes and sets them off in strategic places. This is the only way that I can see us delivering a heavy blow to the terrorists without an epic backlash.

I wonder how many government people read our posts about terrorism. I'm sure they flag every internet forum for the word terrorist and screen the messages. Hi government please blow them all up. Thank you.
