In the city of Portland, ME there is an annual festival called the 48 Hour Music Festival. People from all over the place (mostly New England) come together and pick names out of a hat and end up with completely randomized bands. These bands then have 48 hours to write, record and perform a 20 minute album. The bands then go in a recording studio and produce album versions once the festival is concluded.
