 Just purchased my first telescope
I wanted to provide something better than just universe images I made with photoshop, so I decided to grab a really nice telescope (pretty much the best in it's price class) and start doing some astrophotography. Then maybe I'll be able to use those photos for different photoshop effects. Here's the telescope I got: http://www.telescopes.com/celestronnexs ... ackage.cfmShould be here within a couple days. Texas isn't too bad for starfinding, either.

Nice telescope man. I bet you can get a good pic of Jupiter with that. You should check it out, it's the brightest thing in the sky right now, to the left of the moon.

Re: Just purchased my first telescope
I've noticed that for the past couple days now Coach. Isn't it awesome? The other day I saw a F*CKING SATELLITE for the FIRST TIME soaring through the purple sky at about 0623 AM on Tuesday. It was absolutely amazing! I've really learned alot about our universe lately. I'm astounded by space/exploration/the universe. It's pretty much the only thing that keeps my intelligence in-tact. Being able to describe what most don't understand reminds me that I'm not a F*CKING idiot after all- And if I can't describe something asked of, I'm still not a F*CKING idiot because I slept at a Motel 6. They left the light on for me. On another note, I'll definitely get some pics of the Andromedia galaxy, as it is our closest neighbor; I shouldn't have any issues getting a nice shot there. Milky way as well. Telescope should be here in about two more days. I should get it in on Saturday.

Re: Just purchased my first telescope
Do you have a SLR to get the pictures or does the telescope have that function? I used to have to use the camera on the scope. Haven't done it in a long while.

Re: Just purchased my first telescope
we dont have any attachments yet brand for the camera, and i dont know if using the slr is the only one i can use. my wife has a canon that is attachment capable, but i need to order the gps for the scope. last night, i was able to see jupiter and three of it's moons, as well as the huge hurricane on it. there is so much light pollution in my area, that its F*CKING ridiculous for viewing ANYTHING, so im going to go out this afternoon out by the lake about 20 miles away and see if that helps. cant take any pictures yet, but im working on getting the camera, and the gps.

Re: Just purchased my first telescope
If you want to be able to take actual pictures that get the swirling effect you will have to use a SLR. You can get pictures of stars with your wife's if it isn't an SLR, but it will not get the effect I think you are looking for. I'm lucky I live in the boondocks. Everything is easy to see right off my back porch.

Re: Just purchased my first telescope
you should try and get the orion nebula on film, it looks like a dim star near his sword.

Re: Just purchased my first telescope
lol yeah, the closest star other than our sun is alpha centauri and it's just over 4 light years away, so on a universal timescale that's like being down the street.
