Greetings fellow n00bs, I told Ginzu when he was out here for the party that I would be making a thread of a good chunk of everything I listen to from the metal genre so he could check them out and get back in to it. After doing some thinking about that topic, I decided that since this forum was turned in to the Music and Art Forum and no one has really used it for music (or art for that matter, but that's a different story) I would go ahead and make this thread dedicated to anyone who wanted to share their musical tastes so that we can all see what we like and try to sample recommendations from others. Yes, this is a poorly disguised n00bfest e-bonding effort. Anyway, I'm going to list my favorites that I would recommend on some level from all the different kinds of music I listen to and I invite you all to do the same. Metal: In Flames Soilwork Kalmah Orphaned Land (loljewmetal) Katatonia Catemenia Gardenian Opeth Arch Enemy Amon Amarth Dimmu Borgir Falconer Manowar Bal-Sagoth Immortal Agathodaimon Ancient (I, Madman is simply amazing) Immortal Souls Lamb of God Iced Earth Blind Guardian Sigh Scar Symmetry Suidakra Iron Maiden Judas Priest Black Sabbath Cradle of Filth Einherjer (This and Orphaned Land are when I listen to when I actually attempt to exercise, shit gets me pumped) Dark Tranquillity Passenger Trivium (I like a few of their songs, F*CK off) Avenged Sevenfold (I like a few of their songs too, F*CK the F*CK off) Mastodon Testament Zyklon-B Melancholic Art Megadeth Lilitu Lacuna Coil Lord Belial Stormlord Stratovarius Symphony X Melancholia Borknagar Children of Bodom Terrorizer Bathory Baphomet Norther Sabaton Finntroll Naglfar Behemoth (Swedish version) Bifrost (Swedish version) Nightwish Imperanon Into Eternity Kataklysm Vinterfrost Cadacross Thyrfing Turisas Disarmoni Mundi Alghazanth Dragonlord That's a big enough metal list for now. I have to go here soon, so I'm cutting it off there for a moment. I'll update it with more metal and more of other genres when I get a hot minute. |

I gotta admit, I can get down with anything that either rattles my bass or forces me to think up a scene to write about. |

Agoraphobic Nosebleed Anaal Nathrakh Arkaea (Fear Factory broke up, 2 old members here) At the Gates Behemoth Between the Buried and Me Boris (Amazing sludge/stoner/doom/punk from Japan) Burnt by the Sun Carcass Cephalic Carnage Clutch Corrosion of Conformity Cult of Luna Cynic Daath Days of the New Decapitated Decrepit Birth Dim Mak (Kung Fu death metal, no joke) Dimmu Borgir Dying Fetus Electric Wizard (probably my fav stoner/doom band) Ephel Duath (really insane stuff) Fear Factory Genghis Tron ("Board up the house" is a great album) Giant Squid God Dethroned Gorgasm Hate Eternal Hum (local band made it big in the 90's, you've all heard "Stars") Isis Katatonia Khold Lamb of God Leng Tch'e Local H M.A.N. Malevolent Creation Mastodon MC Hammer Misery Index Muse My Dying Bride Napalm Death Nasum Necrophagist Nile Norma Jean Nothingface Obituary Obscura Odious Mortem Opeth Origin Pantera Pig Destroyer (Probably my fav grind band) Pink Floyd Procupine Tree Protishead Psycroptic Radiohead Rotten Sound Scar Symmetry Skinless Slayer Slipknot Spineshank Staind Suffocation Strapping Young Lad Terrorizer The Berzerker (insane "gabber" grindcore) The Red Chord The Sword Toadies Tool Vital Remains Wolfmother Yattering Lots of grindcore and death metal. Mostly noisy. I'm not a huge fan of the "melodic metal", but some bands get it just right. The stoner/doom/sludge stuff is leftover from back in the day, when my friends and I would sit in a room rippin bongs and chillin. |

I like everyone's list outside of the rap shit. Gmans list was impressive! You can listen to Jimmi but you can't hear him. I was born and raised metal. Metalgod's list reminds me of my dad. I was really gay last week and pulled out some 90's gayness. Oh and I got a hold of some classy Buddy Holy last week to. |
