Andrew often walked the streets at night and pondered why the birds scatter as he drew near. One tree would empty in to the next until no trees were left for their escape. The birds would then disappear in to the darkness and he would be alone again, like he always was.

He continued down the path until he came to a gas station on the corner. It had a run down store. The owners had purchased the land when they were young and had since grown too old to take care of it, yet they were too proud to hire someone else to do it.

Andrew entered the store and bought a gallon of water and a Moonpie. He always did. When he paid Mrs. Murson, he would walk outside and sit on one of their rotting benches to watch those who would pass by, usually with their noses in the air.
