 Monster
I drew this but I don't know if I want that to be the monster. The image I had in my head was darkness behind the guy with the mace and solid red eyes with a glowing red mouth screaming at him. I can't think of what it would be though. With what I'm going with now it's turning into a spider thing but I think that's unoriginal. Help?

How about, instead of glowing red eyes in the darkness, you try seeing the eyes, teeth, saliva, etc in the dim light of the actual setting.
Ex: each eye reflects the torch lightly. The tips of the teeth are visible and fade to darkness with the rest of the figure.
Spiders are a really popular monster in caves. Try to put your own spin on it. Have rusty hanging chains instead of cobwebs. Give it some tiny subliminal mutations like having a larger head than body, or baby hands on the ends of its legs. Something to make people look twice and go "wait, wtf?"
And are these supposed to be heroes? The guy in front is holding his weapon as if he's scared and has no idea what he's doing.

I think it's a little bit "Harry Potter"ish.
Spider's just bug me.
I like the animation though, if you get some inking and colouring, it'd be great.

The left most dude needs to be holding the scepter at least higher.
He looks more like he's trying to pop a squat than wield a truncheon.
The monster on could be more humanoid if you don't want a spider. Keep the head, shrink it a bit, and get rid of the lower legs while keeping the upper ones as wings.

They're supposed to be mercenaries hired by an antiquities guild to pillage ruins and the like for artifacts. The scene is supposed to show them passing an overhang in a cave and not noticing the monster as it's curious and reaching out to inspect them. Not heroes, just uninformed expendible assets.
The monster I've decided to call a "ghost eater" because it lives near ruins and derilicte places feeding off the ghosts that haunt them. I'm planning on coloring it with lots of shadow so that's why I haven't shaded it or bothered texturing or anything.
The guy with the mace actually is crouching because they're in a cave and he doesn't know how high the cieling is yet but I've been told this before so I'm fixing it.

Elbow needs to be more bent and arm needs to be tucked inward methinks. It's so dark that he has no sense of space, even with a lit torch. If I were him, I'd be clutching that mace close and have it ready to swing, not holding it out as if it were another torch, know what I mean?

The reason I put it out in front and not held back ready to swing is because I wanted to show that he was inexperienced with it. He's holding it like a religious person would hold a cross out in front of them for protection against evil things. I don't think it would look as good if he was holding it back ready to hit something, because then there wouldn't be a reason for him to be unaware of the monster behind.

I'm more worried about the one line posts with no punctuation what-so-ever.
The purpose of this forum is feedback, right? You don't get better if you don't know what you could do better.

Lol Believe it or not but it helps artists get better. Also, I'm thinking of it as practice if I were to become a professional artist because the person hiring me will most definitely want certain things changed. I finished figuring everything out I guess now I just gotta color it and shade.
