Apparently Portnoy thought Avenged Sevenfold was a more rewarding band than Dream Theater. SHIT, give ME the opportunity to play in Dream Theater and you'll see a fulfilled man in me for life. He doesn't know how many hearts he broke.

well I feel better now. I hate Avenged. I think they suck complete F*CKING ass. I never got into their music and I think the lead singer sounds like a whiney emo F*CK. But reading this makes me happy knowing its all temp and soon avenged can go F*CK itself.

Also the real reason why I hate avenged is because Its one of the songs in my fav game of all time, NHL09, and I hear Afterlife allllll the F*CKING time. I just.....I hate them.

I know this is reviving a somewhat old thread, but the chapter of Dream Theater's finding of a new drummer has been closed for about a month now, I just never got around to posting on the forum about it.

Mike Mangini is the new drummer. I think he'll fit in nicely, to be honest, but nobody can truly replace Portnoy.

Good replacement for Portnoy Mangini has played with Steve Vai, Annihilator, Extreme. He will be a nice fit in the band.

Obviously it will sound different, but I think it'll sound great nonetheless, like Metalgod said he played with really great artists, why not?

I would have rather seen Marco Minneman in the band. I prefer his style. I nevertheless can't wait to hear the new Dream Theater stuff.

Personally, I think Mike Mangini is a great fit to the band. Marco was an amazing drummer and played with so much heart, but Mike has all that AND fits the family. Honestly, I'm looking forward to what Dream Theater has to offer in the future. And hey, maybe Mike Portnoy will play on the same stage as Dream Theater again... Maybe like, three albums down the road. Ya never know.
