This is what i do with a lot of my free time (what little i have).

It's called fire poi, i think mindless made a post about us being on youtube; can't remember if it was here or in general. It's woven kevlar that is braided, soaked in oil and burned on the end of a pair of chains.... simply put.

This past Saturday Minless and I went out to my friend Maggie's Farm for a little get together. The pictures are of my girl Andrea (the only girl), Mindless (white shirt), I (black hoodie) there are quite a few pictures and i am also spitting fire in 3 or 4 of the pictures.

do you guys perform? or?

as of right now i don't perform for audiences except at parties. I'm trying to find a fire troupe to join, or maybe start one. It would be pretty neat to travel and maybe get paid to spin fire!!

some of those pics were pretty badass. there's one that lights your face up just right and makes you look like a statue.

well i got started spinning glowsticks at raves. my buddy adam had a set of fire poi and he let me and mindless try one night. all downhill after that, I practice a lot.... a lot. it's fun to just pick them up and spin while i walk around my house lol.

and yeah there's one pic where they are stalling off my arms in opposite directions. my face looks like ironman in that one, it's pretty sweet. i like the one where my face is enclosed in a circle of fire.

I wish I could learn fire breathing but apparently the liquids used to do that can give you throat cancer or something like that.

i use tiki torch fuel to burn my poi, and for breathing fire. i don't know anything about throat cancer, but as long as you don't swallow it and rinse your mouth out after it's all good.

as far as actually doing it though you just fill your mouth up to your comfort level. when you're ready just keep the flame about 4-8 inches in front of your mouth. when you blow you must purse your lips like you're playing a trumpet. pretty much just spit as fast AND CONSISTENT as you can. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY: WATCH YOURSELF SPIT, IF THE FLAME GETS TOO CLOSE TO YOUR FACE IT WILL CATCH THE REST OF THE OIL ON FIRE. IT WILL NOT EXPLODE BECAUSE OIL IS NOT COMBUSTABLE BUT IT IS FLAMMABLE, SO BE CAREFUL!!!!

hmm. pretty nifty i might add.
but the thing is...the pictures a real blur, the fire with chains or whatever being twirled looks like glow sticking. if you know what that is.

yea, glowsticking is how i got started with fire. and it's hard to get good pictures unless you have a point of focus, which we were on a farm at night so....
