Just wondering about the n00b's thoughts on emulators. I love playing classic games on my computer, but I've heard alot of people saying that they ruin the experience of playing the original game on the original console. I wasn't into video games during the time that they were just coming out, and therefore I am quite uneducated on the subject. So, I was just wondering... do emulators really affect the enjoyability of the game? or are emulators the "bee's knees"? (If they are the "bee's knees", recommend some games to play or consoles that work well with emulation)

One of my fondest memories is playing ps1 games on bleem back in the day, but that's because there were no playstations near where I lived, and it took weeks to download roms. Nowadays, emulators for all the classic systems work better than the original, especially if you use dedicated controllers. Back then (late 90s early 2000s), emulating games was a pain. You needed an obscenely powerful pc which not many people could afford to be able to run an emulator perfectly, but things changed very quickly. Nowadays, there are emulators that work perfectly, many times surpassing the graphics of the original thanks to the different ways you can tweak them. If you haven't done it already, start emulating the snes, sega megadrive, dreamcast, n64, mame (arcade perfection), psx and ps2. I had hundreds of links on emulators and roms, but almost all of them are dead now. You can get more info here - http://www.emulator-zone.com/ |

Some times I play the N64 on the Computer, I miss Perfect Dark, Golden Eye 007, Zelda-OOT on the console. Its really tough to play perfect dark using a keyboard. But yeah a Controller for the Computer is AWESOME! |

i've got project64, psx, zsnes... playing mostly conker's bad fur day, twisted metal, and mario bro's games... also got a gameboy emulator to run advance war... real classic if u want to spend some useless time... My friend got this though http://www.thinkgeek.com/electronics/retro-gaming/bd6f/. it's a pocket emulator, costs 100$ but it works really well, no lag, great video quality (but i dont mean HD games hahaha), and the controls are pretty much like any controllers at that time, planning on buying 1 when i'll be back home, that's a sweet thing when you're bored at school, work or on a trip somewhere if u want to kill time... i'm just like u squirtle, i F*CKING love old-school games, just bought myself a playstation 1 a couple of months ago, totaly love it! PS. i dont think that playing an emulator will ruin your fun... it's kinda the same, you're just not sitting on your couch looking at your tv (or maybe are u idc)... if u got a basic controller that works well, there'll be no problem playing on emulators... if you plan to play the n64 emulator and the playstation emulator (actually, any consol that requires a joystick), you should play it with a joystick,... here's mine http://www.logitech.com/en-ca/gaming/co ... evices/287 |

Hey for yall pokemon fans just go to pokemonworldonline.net I love pokemon too the dudes who made this game are still adding onto it the only problem i think is they have stopped accepting new players (already got me an account back in december) because people make new accounts and just trade their starters to the older accounts. Some cool features are you can sell pokemon at the market. Right now you start in Kanto and once you beat the 8 gym leaders you can go over to jhoto and beat those gym leaders. they got around 300 pokemon in the game right now you can fish, surf on a surfboard, and ride a bike but that shit cost alot of ingame money which takes for ever to get since those items cost like 10 million. Only gripe i have is they introduced a new xp system for the pokemon battles and it knocked all my pokemons down 10 or so lvls. yall should look into it ive been haveing alot of fun. Lul i feel like an adviretiser.... |

Just go buy the system. The experience is much better. I ran some emulators on Firefox but only for games that I couldn't get my hands on. I currently run a Super Nintendo & Nintendo 64 on our TV in the living room and its ready to be played at any time. I have about 50 Nintendo games but my system died and I haven't gotten around to buying another. We have a shop in town that deals in Airsoft (faggotry) and classic gaming. This guy sells all the good stuff at fair prices. He has some overseas versions and some rebuild originals. Plus if he doesn't have it he will find it and make sure you get a deal. And I play with his wiener. |
