Politcal Forum Comedy/Humor/Jokes Policy

Comedy, humor and outright jokes regarding politics have recently been railroaded into and policy arbitrarily set/dictated (by one individual) that political comedy, humor and jokes only be posted in the new Politics forum which up till now had been by in large a serious forum with much good spirited debate, idea exchange and discussion occurring. I had even tried to set the tone early on that the new politics forum should be an exchange of ideas and not used as a forum for political insults and attempts at political comedy and humor. It becomes to easy to derail and disrupt an already sensitive topic area by introducing this element into the forum. I argue that comedy, humor and jokes of any and all flavors has been and remains better displayed in the other forums (General, NSFW and Arts forums), as that's what those forums are feeding on and has widely been the standard til now...

I ask you to consider this approach to be counter productive and against the general rule of insulting and comedic humor and jokes/photoshopped images etc. being allowed to run rampant in every other forum but politics.

While I agree the intent of the politics forum is for serious discussion, I don't see why an occasional humor post can't go in the same place.

Honestly, there are a lot of people reading the general discussion forum that wouldn't "get it" if you showed them a political cartoon.

Perhaps a title system like the NSFW forum would be helpful, i.e. [HUMOR]; [POLITICS]; [GOD]

I don't want to see the forum turn into joke theater, so this will have to be carefully measured.

I agree the occasional humor post is acceptable, but I don't agree that we should limit and/or censor political jokes/humor to be rat holed into a serious and sensitive forum such as the one we have recently just established. You yourself said "the intent of the politics forum is for serious discussion" and "I don't want to see the forum turn into joke theater" which the above policy in question would certainly enhance the likelihood of insults, innuendo and dilute the ability to maintain a more factual related environment for discussion. I think most political jokes should go in the forum if they actually express a political view and not "lol obama is a nignog" or "I wanna nail Palin." If it's an actual political cartoon then it probably should. If it's a .gif of hillary, mccain, and obama as pokemon fighting it should not. Other than that, retards will be retards and you'll have some posts you'll just need to delete yourself.

You forgot the "Jokes and stuff allowed, but rules should be made to filter what kinds" choice.

What if we set up the forum to auto-disable replies.

You basically do what Corpse suggested with the tag and we'll have like a total rip off of Fark.com where we post "[JOKE] Jew Gets Baked Off His Ass" to link to a humorous story to a Holocaust Memorial.
