This is something Ive thought long and hard about posting so here goes:

Regular Night:

Every Saturday night we have a "Regular's Night" which means that we lock the server with a password at I dont know 9pm EST and we post the password in the members only forum. Then for an hour or two we play with nothing but n00b memebers. Nothing but fun, no clip, god mode, disco mode (if installed on the server) etc. Not a good idea in it's own, BUT it ties in with Captains Night

CAPTAINS NIGHT:

This one is a little tougher to explain but I will try my best

At 9pm EST, every one who wants to play captains night joins vent, we have 3 channels let's call them: TEAM "A" TEAM "B" and the MAIN channel, every one who wants to play has to be in the main channle by 9pm if your late to bad so sad. So 9:01pm rolls around, thats when 2 people are chosen to be "Captains" these 2 people choose there team from people that are in the channles. Then they break up in vent into there respective channles TEAM A TEAM B. The main server is locked with a password once all teams are in and chosen. Then the team captains can pick ANY MAP they want (allowed by the server). Then it turns into one big scrim/melee/death match. Using strats either on vent or in game (all talk has to be off). I would say the Max is 2 hours (people can lose intrest if to long), what ever team has the most wins at the end of the map or end of the night wins.

And we do this as a weekly thing, hell if you want there might even be a way to turn this into a captains war. (Each captain keeps a tally of how many games he/she has won), we could set rules, we could even make a forum so that people could sign up to be captains.

Now some people might say:

Wont this deture people from our server?
My response: I dont think so, I think it may attract if not get more people to join n00b.

What if not enough people join captains/regular night:
Then unlock the server and let it be open to the public.

What if the server starts to empty out:
refer to the last questions response

What if I am late:
Then it's going to be 2 hours before you can play on the main server again, dont worry there is still the fun maps server.

What if I get disconnected:
No problem, check the memebers forum and get the password and re-join before some one takes your spot.

All in all I think this would be a really good idea, because I know that some reg's only like playing with people they know, who know's we might get some innactive people to be more active if we do this.

I hope this made sense Im going on 32 hours of no sleep, and lot's of coffie. So please forgive my spelling and grammer errors. Please let me know what you think and thank you for your time in reading this.

EDIT:
How do we clear the server before the night happens:
One BIG massive KICK. Put something on the homepage about captains night IE: Time, Place, and what will happen. Then have 2 admins enter the server and announce that captains night is about to happen and that every one will be kicked and to please come back in 1-2 hours. Then turn off immunity and then start kicking but make shure to lock the server before you do this so no smart a** trys to re-join.

Regulars night would be AWESOME, just screwing around, no real rules, just n00b's having fun.

Yeah, you wouldn't believe how upset people get when I put noclip on myself after going 3-17 so that I can end up going 4-18 instead.

No, execall basically types whatever follows into their console...for example, "admin_execall -voicerecord" registers a -voicerecord on everyone's system, temporarily stopping their mics.

admin_execall admin_noclip wouldn't do anything, it would just be like everyone going into their console and typing "admin_noclip". The people without admin would get a message about not having admin, and the rest would just have failed commands because they didn't specify a target.

Thats actually not a bad idea. We now have a "Members Only" server, though.... so that part is out of the way. But choosing teams and scrimming like that sounds fun. The Elite server could be used for that sort of thing on a regular basis. Since it's locked and only n00bs are allowed to play there, it's a simple matter to pick teams and rock-n-roll!
