 Mechwarrior Online Vs. Hawken
Alright, here we go.
MWo is more strategy than anything. Joystick is almost a must to play efficiently, but you can get along just fine with kb and mouse. Looks awesome, used with the Cry tek3 engine. So far from what I can tell, you can't modify your mech's weapons or setup, you have to purchase the entire mech setup. Not really a fan of that to be honest, but it's just the Beta, this may be a feature added later.
Game looks great, plays awesome, more technical which holds true to the series, steep learning curve.
Hawken I believe is built on the Unreal engine. This is more of your run and gun type game, more like Blacklight:Retribution except all mechs. Looks great, controls are pretty easy to master. No complaints from me. kb mouse are perfect for this game, but a joystick wouldn't hurt.
Game looks great, plays pretty good. Not as technical and learning curve isn't that steep. (Great transition from your run of the mil FPS.)
MWo will win me over though. Once a mechwarrior fan, always a mechwarrior fan.

I was enjoying the MW Beta till the turned on there Beta players and tried to make money off them. It was fun trying out the different mechs but they made it impossible to get a custom mech unless you spent RL money. It's a freaking Beta WTF! That type of greed when your helping them test there game is just plain wrong they lost me as a player. I will however look at Hawken now.

I really enjoyed MW and did fine with the KB. I was impressed that you could totally customize your mech's weapons/armor/accessories easily and you made enough cbills to do it quickly. HOWEVER, I haven't played in a few weeks due to massive computer problems and after reading the CPT's post I'm thinking I'm gonna be pissed if I'll have to pay2win or customize. Not that that will deter me in the long run but it was just nice to be able to do all that free-ly.

Yeah. I'm hoping it stays true and allows to you buy a chassis and customize your loadout and what not.
If it doesn't, I'm not playing it. Thats the whole reason I loved MW. Customization.

you can customize your mechs. you just have to own the mech itself and then buy its weapons. i have been doing it since beta launch

One thing I'm not liking though is you get 0 XP from assists. Which is total BS. You should get SOMETHING For assists because it's goddamned hard to get a kill without getting help.

You should get SOMETHING For assists because it's goddamned hard to get a kill without getting help. it can be. it just depends on what mech your running. double gauss on a catapult is a sure way to get a quick kill especially if you head shot them frequently. most of the preloads on the mechs you buy are god awful and almost always requires you to customize your mech to actually kill things. im disapointed in the lazers so far. they dont do as much damage as i would like. also the missles need to hit more often then random spray. LRMs means long range missile not i spray missiles across the map lol. they have some things they need to work on. thankfully its still just the beta of the game. but im what more interested in is better gametypes. the default just isn't that great.

They just released their version of Domination. Haven't had a chance to play it yet though.
