Expensive? Yes.

Highest Rated and considered the fastest computers on the planet? Yes.

Barebone kit cost? $2040, includes Case, Custom Mobo w/ 7.1 onboard sound, PSU, and liquid cooling equipment

These are very badass. The liquid actually touches your components. Scary but very cool when you look at the specs.

most likely because of the way the system need to be built. easier access for users and easier customization. who knows, they may even use different materials in their mobos to keep from having problems with the liquid.

That would be my best guess too. There might be mobo parts that don't do real well surrounded in the liquid. They also said with the barebones kit you can mail them the parts you buy and they'll install them free of charge. I think that would help because you wouldn't need the heatsinks on your vid cards anymore but I'd like to see something like this where I can do it myself.

If what I'm reading in the articles about these computers this is going to be huge in the overclocking community. The power output has to be huge though pumping that liquid at 2.5 gallons a minute and expelling the heat through the radiator but I think it's an amazing feat nonetheless.

Their designing new mobos for the i7 so hopefully some website like THG or Anandtech get to review it and see the overlcocking potential.

that is amazing.... and it also brought something to mind that I never had thought of before with these computers, they must be pretty damn heavy...

yes china, they must be. i have a "traditional" liquid cooled machine, and it weighs at least 40lbs. these machines have 3-4+ times as much liquid as mine has, plus that radiator is massive.

You can submerge any computer component in mineral oil as long as it's pure mineral oil. Since it's not ionized at all, it doesn't conduct electrical current. The problem begins when you have moving parts; since the liquid is more dense than air, it causes more strain on those parts and can burn out the motors in them.

Yea I know these things weigh like 100lbs, pretty sick.

There have been tests before done with mineral oil and computers before but nothing to this extent. The pump and radiator really help get rid of the heat.

I'm really waiting for a decent website to review their product so I can actually see how good they overclock.
