Just FYI, I've gone through the mani admin config and fixed a few things at regulars' requests.

- The "damage" menu has now been enabled (again).
- The "quake" sounds are now working again.
- @chat now works for non-admins to talk directly to admins.
- Chat flood-control is now disabled. I had NUMEROUS complaints about the flood-control being excessive and figured that this was a small enough change that nobody would care; just don't abuse it.
- You can now bet when you're alive.

I deleted tons of cached spray files off of the server to help reduce server lag.

I also just restarted the server, since it hadn't been restarted in days.

Now we need to work on the performance.

I don't know anything about game servers but:

Is there anyway to set up a schedule reset for the server? say 6am everyday or every other day.

Is there anyway to auto-delete those cached sprays so they don't take up so much space and potentially bog down the server?

Just disable sprays entirely.

The server can't even hold the 66 tic rate we're paying for. Restarts and spray cache clearing won't help that.

Hmm. I'll look into setting up some sort of cron job to delete those sprays once every week (say sunday @ 6am or so), but it might require ssh access to the gameserver, which they're not likely going to give us.

Quite simply, we need a new one. What we have right now really is hurting the n00bfest brand.

Ak, you are correct; we do need a new server. the problem is that if we switch, we will most likely lose our IP. if the n00bfest server moves IPs the traffic will be in the shitter. yes, the loyal players will try to search for it and most likely find it, but this will take time. i don't know the best way to let everyone know we would be moving, other than to try an advertise the hell out of our new IP both on the website/forum and in game prior to the official switch.

It'll just be easier for us to go in every other server and spam our IP.

If we can secure enough donations, what about reducing the main n00bfest server to the cheapest server possible and having it redirect to a new server as soon as a person connects to the main server. We can also have the main server's title changed to n00bfest has moved to xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx. We could leave this up for a month of two to ensure that everyone knows about the new n00bfest server.
