Post new games are sucking
I'm going back to playing the 8-bit NES system (emulator of course) the games are more challenging, colorful, and you don't get lag.

ms pacman
bomberman
othello
rampart
adventure island
tetris

these games are seriously hot!

Try the Company of Heroes demo, pretty kickass RTS. Just turn the shaders off if your comp sucks like mine.

And if you are going to stick with a side-scroller, you can't go wrong with Mario.

But, if you're looking for a good game, I'd totally check out Lode Runner.
