I've played for almost 4 years now, never had one lesson.

To start with, maybe try some (older) Green Day stuff, maybe some Nirvana.. just depends on what you like. Those two bands are some pretty basic shit though on most of their songs. I personally play a lot of RHCP and Sublime. What kind of music do you listen to? There's tons of easy stuff out there in every genre.

www.ultimate-guitar.com

Go there, go to the forums. There is a topic in there with a BIG list of songs for different skill levels. It's relatively easy to find.

Enjoy!

get use to the neck, memorize fret locatiosn blindly, and study power and bar cords.

easy songs to start off with and learn intros/choruses are smoke on the water, iron man, smells like teen spirit, schools out, girl you really got me going, back in black.

Loook on ultimate-guitar.com or google other websites to get the chords and fret numbers

Me too.

However I do also play bass/guitar and do some vocals. (Main instruments are Drums/Piano, but I've taken it upon myself to learn how to play something on most instruments you could name)

Work on scales and chord progresssion as warmups then you can start learning songs. I'd suggest Smoke on the Water by Deep Purple to start with or maybe some Black Sabbath Paranoid or War Pigs are great songs to learn. Then maybe later on you can start learning more advanced stuff like Iron Maiden or Van Halen?

It all depends what genre/style you want to play.

I've been a guitar player for 25 years or so. Not a daily player, but I've had my band days, my metal days, my thrash days, and my acoustic days.

Seems you're getting some sound advice so far. Follow that advice, and make a habit of practicing daily.

Easiest first song to learn on guitar is Smoke on the Water by Deep Purple. Great song and really easy to learn. Least that was the first one i and a few other people had learned.
