I think the time is drawing near that all Condition Zero servers should be upgraded to Source.

Condition Zero is a tired-ass game that isn't as popular as CS:Source.

Before you go whining about 1.6, forget it! 1.6 is even older than CZ. Yes, more people play 1.6 but who cares? Too many thousands of them are children with shitty computers and shitty attitudes.

Time to start clearing the flock and moving towards actual POPULAR games instead of hanging on to a chunk of ancient history.

Yes, yes... we'll have lamenting and pain. The same pain we had when we went from 1.3 to 1.5 and then from 1.5 to Steam/1.6 and then from 1.6 to Condition Zero. It's just the same pain we always experience when we change our Counter-Strike servers.

The problem we have is... Condition Zero is NOT a game that is growing in popularity. Condition Zero has a bad ratio of adults-to-children playing. We're not getting bigger anymore. People started playing other games because CZ is dead and we're all too stubborn to realize it.

Some people will refuse to upgrade. Some people will not be able to run the game because of hardware problems. This I know. It happens every time we move forward. But there are lots of Source players out there, waiting for someplace like n00bfest to come along and bring them a fun place to play.

CS:Source has failed for us in the past because we always kept CZ running as a backup, and CZ servers stayed populated with regulars that could not run source, bringing the temporary-Source players right back into the CZ servers. This time it would be an actual upgrade of the servers, with no CZ servers remaining when the upgrades are finished.

Some thought and opinions would be nice. That's THOUGHTS and OPINIONS, not RANTS and FITS. Pointless flames will be deleted, smartasses will be banned.

I'll start a poll after people have been given a little time to digest the idea.

Funny, I was just talking to Pred the other day about this.

I finally upgraded and I am now able to handle source. Since then I have not played a single minute of CZ. Source is amazing. Yeah I know the hitboxes are weird, but so are the hitboxes in CZ. It saddens me to see an empty n00bfest source server all the time. I requested admin from pred so I could help promote and reqruit more members directly on the server but there is nothing I can do when there are only 1 or 2 regulars.

So, as corpsehumper said its time to move on. For those of you that think they can't afford to upgrade, think again. I spent $75 on a video card ($50) and a memory stick ($25) and it handles it smoothly. If my broke ass can afford that all you youngster can stop buying your weed and spend it on something smart for a change.

Source has outdone 1.6 and CZ, and as said before sponsership and servers are fading away as they move on to source. Its time.

I'm down. I've always liked source better anyway...it's pretty.

Besides. CZ is rather the ass-end of the CS community anyway.

that sounds fine because we all are going to have to play source eventually when 1.6 dies and cz along with it, source is now where the pros are at and soon n00bfest! but cz has really been growing ever since ESEA got cz servers they have really been growing

I've never played Source. First time for everything. I'll probably buy it sometime this week/weekend when I don't have work.

source is okay and that is where all the people are but i actually just introduced my friend to cz he used to be 1.6 fanatic and now all he can do is play cz

well, i guess this day has been coming for some time now. I love CZ, it was my first game to really get into and ive stuck with it ever since. But i agree that its time to make the move. The game isn't what makes this place great, its the people in the game that do it.

Probably a good idea. A couple things to think about:

Iceworld sucks in source. Might want to think about a mod server. They do pretty well. Zombie mod is hot right now.

Get out of Texas. Texas servers suck for all gaming. Not even Texans ping well there. Go Chicago.

I think we should keep the CZ funmaps because it's basically the most populated fy server around. Also it's always good to collect people from every game.

Zombie mods are OK, but reverse gun games seem to do good, reverse meaning you start with the easiest or biggest weapons AWP, then to pistols then nade etc....

Iceworld servers are ok, nothing to special. When you pick up a gun you only get one magazine until you hit the buy zone. Nades are harder to throw were you want them to go. But its were I go when I'm bored.

Dust 2 is of course popular. A good server with 100 tick and a solid "normal" map rotation would excite me in my panties.

The default Iceworld is indeed a suck on some balls. I'll probably do some research to see what the hot funmaps are for Source and talk to Super about a rotation (if Super doesn't just say "F*CK SOURCE" and leave).



Dude, the servers in Dallas have been kicking ass! Are you high? Damn... why the hell are you not banned from the site already?! LOL

I've done some experimenting with the FEAR servers and I have 2 of them in Chicago right now. Dallas and Chicago both work well for the majority of users. Atlanta and Tampa are distant 2nd place players (Funmaps is currently in Tampa, by the way).

And even if we do have members who can't really handle Source well on their PCs, we can provide some help to them in terms of commands and things in Source to raise their FPS.

And what JFOBP said about Iceworld servers is right. If you do want an iceworld server, a buddy of mine has rewritten the Weapon Arena mod for Source and he and I have been trying it out on his server for a while now and it's working pretty well. Or just make it a fun maps server with a bunch of fun maps. Another guy I know has taken great pains in recreating a few of the old fy_ maps and he's done a really good job at keeping everything the same.

Did you know sometimes I ping zero to Chicago?

Also, download the Insurgency mod. I honestly think it's 10 times better than source.

Agreed, but I would think it'd be a good idea to leave a small server up whether it be the funmaps or a smaller main, just to give people without the hardware or debating a switch to Source a chance to catch up, rather then cutting them off completely.

No really i agree and now that i have the computer to handle source i have nothing to bitch about. So bring it.

I do have to say i think playing source it weird but i'm sure we'll all get used to it.
