if vista was good there would be no need for windows 7 or any upgrades. i have heard too many people switch from vista back to xp because it sucks balls. there is a possibility that they worked out many of the bugs that gave vista such a bad rep in the first place, but my gf's laptop runs slow as shit with it.

More then likely your gf's lappy has min amount of ram that vista can run on which makes it run slower. It was the same thing with mine. But it wasn't that slow.

Vista development finished in 2006, PCIe wasn't even invented till 2004. There's no reason why Vista should not support AGP unless you think it is reasonable for someone to upgrade a system every two years.
