The truth? People and animals are suffering unspeakable horrors right in your home town, and you don't really give a shit. Know why? You can't! You could spend your whole life trying to make it stop and you'd fail. It's like trying to stop the rain or wind. It's grown beyond our control.

What the hell CAN we do?! Well for starters, we can go find something that looks REALLY bad in another country, find someone in OUR country to blame, and make ourselves feel better by "standing up for the children".

You know what? Your neighbor probably beats the shit out of his kid for not putting the milk back in the fridge and says things that kid will never forget. That same kid probably walks around school with his head down, making him a target for all kinds of remarks, trips, and accusations of homosexuality. Why don't we do something about that instead? I'm not saying America has to solve the world's problems. IMO, I think we need to solve our own problems first such as the education of our youth, our economy, our health care situation, and illegal immigrants.

Since we're throwing away billions of dollars to fight overseas maybe our troops should stop by Africa on the way home.

If you want someone to blame blame life in general. In order to live you have to survive, in order to survive you have to get the necessities, and in order to get those you may be forced to take from others if not peacefully then through force. As animals we do exactly that. Because we have higher intelligence though, we have the ability to improvise and invent tools that specialize in forcing others into submission. In the end, we're still animals though, and we instinctively will fight others for the things we value. We're also able to do exactly what corpse said. Shield ourselves from the obligation to live as animals by surrounding ourselves with luxury. Over time, luxury spoils us and changes what we value most, changing what we fight over. If not this metal, the Africans would be fighting over whatever else they thought was rare and precious. It's in their nature. It has nothing to do with who is causing who to fight. People just forget their place as animals and try to cover the fact by blaming it on a scapegoat.
