Post Tablets?...
So I've been looking at tablets for the last couple months. Looking at the new windows surface or whatever it is.
All I want it for is basically web surfing, forums etc... while on the couch. Right now i use my phone(iphone4s) it works okay it's just small. Anyways, Who has a tablet? And how do you like? Is it worth it/waste of money? Pros/cons?
New phone maybe?

The Kindle is the only one I have experience with. It seems ok to me, browse the web, has apps like a phone. All around pretty solid.

I have a galaxy tab, its pretty cool, does most of what i want. My only complaint is that internet pages treat it like a phone so I have to deal with the mobile web pages which can be annoying sometimes.

I vote for the surface

I have an iphone ipad combo and I can tell you there are few benefits to it. An Ipad is really just an iphone with a bigger screen, everything you do on your iphone you do the same on your ipad. the only benefit is that you can get imessages on your ipad with wifi enabled so you don't have to sit by your iphone to answer them.

I only bought mine for entertainment purposes during my 30 hour flight to and from Australia so for that much it has succeeded but it falls long short on multiple items. Id go with a surface just in case your needs expand past what an ipad can handle.

This 100000x. I have the new generation Nexus 7 and the thing is beast. Its running stock android so you dont have any bloatware on it like you will find with the galaxy tab or kindle fire. You have full access to the google play store. The resolution on the screen is absolutely ridiculous, and the thing just flies. I have never had any issues with it at all. The only reason I would suggest a surface over this is if you need microsoft office.

I got a ipad mini but ive been using a galaxy note 2 i had laying around as a tablet. Its small enough to not be in the way on the couch but big enough to see well, and pretty speedy to boot.I kept having to send my Htc one back to at&t because it kept dying on me and after the 3rd one i made them give me a note 2.It was too big for the pocket so i said F*CK it and got a iphone 5 and just use the note 2 on wifi around the house.By the way i hate the iphone, apple sucks.

I have the Surface Pro. It's basically a laptop, but in tablet form. This may be a reason for you not to get it, because you only want it to browse the web from your couch...

However, it has many great benefits that Android and Apple cannot compete with.
- USB plug in. This means I can use my 500GB external hard drive to load up all my backed up photos, videos, documents, etc. It also means you can use it as a charging port for another device if you have no other way to get power.
- Micro SD memory card slot. You can pull your SD card out of your phone (sorry, not you iphone folks) and plug it into your tablet to download/transfer images, mp3's, etc.
- Pen. This can be a "meh" for some. But if you are an artistic person, or just like wasting time doodling, this thing works great for drawing, painting, etc. You can also save webpages/documents and write notes on them; pretty cool.
- Instantly connectable keyboard. By far one of my favorite things. Takes 1/2 a second to pull it out, and it magnetically connects to the tablet without hardly trying, and it's instantly usable to type.
- Can connect to your TV or monitor. You have to buy an adapter, but you can connect this bitch to your TV to watch movies or tv shows. ORRR you can use your TV/monitor for a larger viewing space and use it like a PC.
- It IS a PC!!! You can run full windows programs, and even games (Yes, I've played CSS on this thing!). I have a wireless keyboard/mouse combo that I plug into it, sit on my couch and watch movies or browse the web. (Also, you don't have to deal with "mobile" webpages.) I have the Office suite of programs, steam, and CSS. I haven't taken the time to load other PC programs, but I plan on loading Adobe Lightroom to be able to edit photos I take on the fly without having to come home first. Plus, the Mircrosoft store is growing. I have the made for tablet "Halo" game, which is pretty fun, even though I'm not a huge Halo fan. You can switch back and forth between tablet/PC mode. If you are at the Start screen and launch an app it behaves like a tablet; if you switch to the desktop it behaves like a PC.

I haven't really used other tablets, but they basically function like a phone, just larger. To me, what's the point? If you are out and about, you may still need to wait until you get home to do something on your computer. With the Surface, you don't have to wait. I just use my phone as a hot spot and get it done.

The ONLY downside is it has the battery life of a laptop. I mean, if have the power of a computer how can you expect the batter to last all day without the tablet feeling like a ton of bricks in your hand? I'd rather have the power to do what I want, when I want and just carry the power adapter.

The Nexus 7 is pretty solid. Borrowed one from a coworker to take to India and I like it. That being said, my only previous tablet experience is with an Asus Transformer or some shit like that.

As much as I hate Apple products they do make a solid tablet. I get to use my sister's a lot and it's nice. I use a Samsung tablet at work and they are solid product as well but I wouldn't go Kindle if you ever want to put stuff non-Amazon on it. They have a super strict user policy and they can and have wiped peoples Kindles without warning when they believe you violated the user agreement, remember you own nothing on a Kindle you just rent it from Amazon. If your just going to web browse I would go with something cheaper then an Ipad. My friends like the Nexus and the Acer tablets and they are reasonably priced.

Windows tablets if you want a full user experience.
Nexus if you just want to surf the web and play with some apps. $229 for the Nexus 7 I believe.

in case you weren't aware though, Android stopped supporting Flash a while ago, but HTML 5 still hasn't completely taken over. I got free Sunday Ticket with the new Madden game I bought my brother and I found out it's Flash and I can't run it on my iPad or Android device =(
You could technically root your Android and install Flash, but if you want Flash, I would definitely go Windows.

Apex, I'm not sure about Android not spring flash. My Samsung Galaxy Nexus has flash, and it works great. I'm upgrading to the s4 this week, so I'll find out whether or not it also supports flash.
